I'm honor bound to get a Jeep

We promised our kids a car if they got a full ride to college.
The first two did not get a car.
My youngest is due to get license soon and already has a full ride. Wants a Jeep.

Soooo
Here I am to learn about early 2000's Jeeps. I think thats our target.

I'm into restoring older German cars myself but need to come up to speed on the Jeep thing so I can find a good one and fix whats needed.

Started to look at a few and love all the room to work on things, the modularity and reasonable parts available.

Agree about the rust from what I have seen so far. I'm here in the Northeast so I expect to find rust on any of them from 2007. I'm thinking I look for one 10 years old, low miles and heavy rust and then replace frame and anything else that needs it.
That way I start off knowing every inch and having confidence in it but that plan may not work if rust seems to attack everywhere.

Anyway thanks for the welcome!

I would search for a jeep out of the south/ southwest. Arizona, Texas, etc. That way you don't have to deal with the rust which is going to suck every time you go to remove/ replace parts.
