I'm looking to buy a short wheel-base JK, I have worried Parents

Hey Guys,

I'm new to this site and I have been looking for answers about the JK Model wrangler. So I'm looking to get the 2dr JK but my parents are to afraid that because of its short wheel-base that It might flip easier.. Instead they urge me to get the Unlimited Model because it might not flip as easy. The unlimited models are more expensive so this isn't an option for me.
So my question is, Does the Electronic Stability Control help any on the "flippyness" of the Jeeps? My other option is a Land Cruiser and which isn't "Rugged" enough for me. Any suggestions?

I might have posted this in the wrong place..

EDIT: Jeeps arent like any other SUV. thought i should say this so im not attacked lol

Their argument isn't that I'll be stupid, they are worried about emergency maneuvers at high speeds. Have you had anything like that happen yet?

I have had to slam on the brakes a few times. I have never swerved out of the way of anything. Anything can flip over at high speed maneuvers

Jeeps are stable like anything else. They come with swaybars that help eliminate body roll. They only come from the factory with 32" tires but the axles are narrow compared to a full size axle. They aren't as top heavy as a normal SUV because they lack the material up top. Any top that can be removed won't be that heavy therefore not as top heavy.

There was a thread on here somewhere yesterday that was titled jeep insurance in FL being 1 of the top 10 cheapest to insure. Inside the thread the 4 door was 4 more dollars to insure but the point I'm making is that they are safe to dry. Like someone said above anything can roll.

First off you should never panic stop. That will cause problems no matter what you are driving. You will be fine in a 2 door. Unless you are wanting the new motor that's in the 2012 models I would buy used. That way if you even wanted the 4 door that would make it an option and also less money spent, more for mods.

Electronic stability control will definetly help. That is exactly why it is being mandated on all cars.

Thanks for the welcoming!

I appreciate all the feedback, I will try and brings this to the parents for a renegotiation when the time comes.

Welcome! Best of luck, and just remind them how cheap they are to insure!
