"Interesting" new guy introduction & QUESTIONS

Hey guys & girls!!
I'm new to the Jeep Wrangler world, but not new to Jeeps, nor to Mopar!!
As you can see from my sig, I'm currently a "3 SRT" owner. I'm a moderator on another forum, and a vendor on 7 other sites. So I'm not new to the forums or modding a vehicle, just simply new to the Jeep Wrangler world, itself.

And recently my wife and I found out she's pregnant!! However, my wife plans on NOT going back to work, so that changes some things in our financial layout. I'm currently THINKING of selling the 300 & the Charger (MY TRUE BABY). Whereas my wife will continue driving the SRT Cherokee as her daily driver. And that leaves ME looking for something new to drive as a daily driver. And in my world, I won't drive it, if I can't modify it, and I won't modify it, if I can't make it look badass. Which leads me here.......

In looking for a vehicle that has parts readily available to personalize it, and something that can be modded to be tough as hell, and for under $40k, have every option, I'm lead to the 4-door Wrangler. I'm specifically looking at either a Mojave (fugly decals removed, of course, lol) or a 70th anniversary.

Now for the questions:
I don't plan on changing the suspension or doing a lift kit, but I'd like to get a "wider & meatier" stance on the OEM setup. What's the widest & meanest size tire I can do on the stock 17" wheels & stock suspension?? 305??

I know most of the mods done to these vehicles usually aren't for power, they're for suspension and off-road capability. But for a guy like me, that would like to get a few more ponies out of the 3.8L V6. What air intake & exhaust systems are available? Or what other "go-fast" parts do you guys recommend??

What vendors or websites, do you guys recommend I go to, for performance parts??

Thanks for listening, and thanks up front for any help you all can provide!!!

Welcome to the forum Before we got his Rubicon, hubby's DD was an '07 Charger R/T We still have friends on LXforum and Chargerforum... In fact I still use my screen name, since we didn't have a Jeep before I joined here.

You'll find modding Jeeps way, way, way more addictive than the hot rods, I think There's no limit to what you can do to them..... Just Empty Every Pocket.

Speed? forget speed. But welcome! I personally love the Mojave edition. Like IG said, you will LOVE modding these beasts.

Right on guys and gal! Thanks SO MUCH for the warm welcome! Sometimes existing members can be "cold" to newbies, lol. Glad to hear you peeps understand my background a little as well, lol.

Any advice on the tires, intakes, or exhaust? Also, any "favorite" vendors on this site to do business with??

After you buy the jeep how much mod money are you wanting to spend? If its a ton, then pass the jeep dealer and contact AEV, get a hemi and be done. All of our vendors on the site are great to work with and can help ya.

As far as intake I hear that the cai intakes are useless on the 3.8s. Think about supercharge with a chip to get the most bang for your buck. Now I love the idea of doing the hemi from aev (best thing to do), but don't know your budget. I can't say what's good or not on exhaust. The only "brand" or "company" I have heard a lot about is banks cat-back system..... can't go wrong with banks as far as stuffing some tires I believe you can get away with 33x12.50s with a little bit of fender flare trimming and some wheel spacers... hell just get some pretty new rims some coil spacers and the 33s with a supercharger and chip it.... orrrrrrr the hemi 2.5" lift 35x13.50 tires glasspak exhaust and a winch and .... and ..... and....

Not a bad idea. You might wanna look into an AEV jeep. It will come built for anything out of the box.

Not a problem at all, lol. Thanks for the heads up. But the forum I moderate.....well, lol.....let's just say you need to have incredibly "thick skin" over there.

I'm seriously thinking only $3k to start. My goal would be wheels/tires, air intake, and exhaust.
Who's AEV??

Holy hell. You and I share a brain!! I know it's never ending. The extent of work done to my Charger portrays that mindset, lol.

What forum do you mod? And aev is American expedition vehicles. They make the best of the best when it comes to jeep parts.

No problem. They will contact you if it's too bad. But normally they will just edit it.

I found some lift kits. So 33" tires are for sure in the works. But does anyone know how wide the OEM 17" wheels are that come on the Mojave/Rubicon? I'm trying to figure out what size/aspect ratio tire will be best.

Welcome to the Forum

I'm a TJ'er so I can't help you out on the mod advice, but what I can tell you is that no matter how you buy it or build it, a Wrangler will be the most fun you've ever had in the driver's seat.

17" Moabs are 7.5" wide, the bs will be the problem. They have 6.25" bs, iirc. So spacers or new wheels will be in order for you to put on a tire that is much wider than 10"....
