I'll probably write a novel here...just to warn you.
As a hobby, I buy and sell cars from time to time. Last year, I acquired a 2000 Wrangler SE. I LOVED IT. But, I had taken it in trade, and ended up selling it...I had only owned it for about 2 weeks, but I was hooked.
Then, last october-ish, I ran across a decent deal, and picked up my second Wrangler SE, this one was a '99. I spent a little more time with this one, and grew very fond of it. I did some work to it, including rhino lining the tub, adding a front tube bumper, painting the hard top, and adding bigger fender flares. Mostly cosmetic work, but a little function as well. It had a 2" body lift and 31s on it (although they were very near bald). I brought it in the woods a few times, and had some fun, but then it ended up needing around $1500 worth of work to pass inspection, and it just wasn't in the cards...so I sold it about 5 months after buying it.
Well, Not even 6 months went by and I couldn't take it anymore. I missed having a Wrangler. Less than a week ago, I decided I would buy another one, and after checking Craigslist daily, I found a few that I was interested in...And today I bought one! It's a '98 Sport with about 6 inches of lift and 33s. Only 64,500 miles! It has quick disconnect sway bar links as well.
The frame does have some rust/rot on it, and that will have to be taken care of pretty soon (inspection time!). I'm hoping she doesn't turn into a money pit, but I feel like I got a pretty good deal on her, and I'm ok with putting a little bit of money, time, and love into her.
It came with a few extra parts, but it also came needing some parts (rear seat brackets, and other small odds and ends). I also have some random left over parts from my last Jeep. ATTN Wrangler Forum Veterans: is there a place on the forum for buying, selling, and possibly trading parts??? Very anxious to know if there is, as I have no need for the spare parts that came with it, and would rather have them being used by someone else than sitting in my garage!
Anyway, that's my Jeep history. Sorry if you read it all and you're disappointed. I'm not a fan of short and sweet.
On a final note, I am SO happy to have a Wrangler in my driveway once again. Driving it home today took a little over an hour and I smiled the whole way. Oh how I missed the Jeep wave..
