Just got my 1st one today

Whats up everyone.

I just bought my first jeep today. It's a 1988 Wrangler. She's red with a black soft top, 1/2 doors. it's the 6 cyl 5 speed model with 187 on the clock. Man... I can't believe I waited so long to buy one! I bought it from someone in Wayne NJ so the ride home was the total jeep experience. It was loud, and drafty and bumpy and just overall AWESOME! As bad as I've wanted one, there were 2 reasons I did this.

1 - It's a Jeep... I wanted it. I've put my time in, I've earned it... ITS MINE
2 - My son has loved cars since he was old enough to say the word. My plan, I'm going to work on this with him and when he's 16, I'll hand him the keys

I'm not a mechanic at all but I do love to figure things out. I've done a head gasket, brakes etc... smaller jobs so I'm not afraid to get in there and see what's going on. I will say this; I like to think I'm smart enough to know when I don't know enough to do something. I'm sure I'll be asking questions but I'm also hoping to be able to help out as well.. We'll see how that goes tho. At any rate.. wanted to say what's up to everyone and I'm looking forward to tearing into this thing. I think this weekend I'll do a complete tune up to her.. new belts, hoses, fluids, cap & rotor etc... just to get her up to snuff. Might even change the Dana oil out too... depends how mad the wife will be with me doing this easter weekend... we'll see.

Welcome to the forum!!! The YJ can be challenging at times but with a little patience and some help here on the forum you will be fine. It is also one of the best build platforms and there is endless ways to mod them and make it your own and not another one like it. Have some fun!!!
