K5 to Rubicon in 40 years

Years ago I cut my teeth on a Chevy K5 Blazer. In 1972, this kind of vehicle was a novelty. I still remember slippin & slidin in the mud and pouring rain, when I got out to manually turn the front lockers to help me get out of some kind of mess I had no business bein in in the first place. Father bought the Blazer new. Us three kids had a blast seeing what the truck would do. It hauled boats and camping trailers all over the East Coast, ran mud bogs at the Watkins Glen formula 1 Grand Prix in the mid- 70's, hauled trees, (for wood heat), off the mountain in Bedford County, & took on any trail we could find. One example was when we went up Poor Mountain in western Virginia and found a mud bog that was deeper than we thought, when we had water up to the headlights and washing over the hood. We took the Blazer to a friend's house and detailed the thing, getting all the mud and scratches off Dad's blazer to our satisfaction, and returned the truck to our father. All went well until he opened the hood: there were rocks and mud on top of the air cleaner and wedged into every crevice under the hood.
I went my way to other autos for many years until today, (07-09-2012), when I went to my local Jeep dealer and bought a new, (2012), Rubicon off the lot. They had just gotten it in, and I knew the Rubicon would not be there for the remainder of the week before someone snatched it up. I have had enough past experience with 4X4's to know to get the Rubicon for the extra muscle.
I am tickled as a new parent with my new black Wrangler Rubicon, and I feel honored to be a member of Wrangler Forum. I hope to learn some tricks, and know-how from the members in WF.
Thanks for welcoming me in!

Penny, Welcome Aboard! I miss the old K5 Blazers; there were offroad beasts.

I went to FAQ re: uploading pictures, & FAQ said go to UCP and click on "pictures & albums" link, well, I went to UCP and have no "pictures and albums" link.

New 2012 is fantastic -- interior is a little rough though.....

Junkyard dog

No doubt! Rubi specific! The "junkyard dog" lives at the dealer, haulin motors, transmisions, etc around the complex. It's a beauty!
