I bought my jeep about 6 months ago and i didn't know much about cars so my buddy drove it and told me it was locked in the rear. Whenever i turn it clicks, I think its the U joints but is there any way to stop it from clicking??

Do you have a button or lever to engage the locker?

That is normal for auto lockers to chirp or click ocasionally when turning.. Some auto lockers do it more then others.. Nothing to worry about IMO

I would say you are hearing the teeth on the locker skip past each other. If you want pull the diff cover and check it out to see what you have.

Well I could be wrong since I only have experience with selectable lockers but from my understanding that is normal for certain types of auto lockers. I am sure someone with more knowledge will chime in.

Edit: I knew some people would chime in...

Its normal to hear it in turns as the locker is locking and unlocking so to speak as you go around turns. I had a rear detroit and it would sound like a cannon going off when I made slow turns. Again, if your worried just take the cover off the diff and see how ever thing looks inside.

Try rolling through the corner. Less skinny pedal. The locker works like a ratchet, when power is applied it will turn but when coasting it unlocks. It takes some getting used to.

That is a normal sound if you have a rear locker; my Detroit locker in my TJ did the same thing.
