Long time jeep owner wife just won't let go

Hi, all-
Newbie here. So my wife owns a 1995 jeep wrangler. Nice car. She used it up until we got married..and had kids(tough having baby seats in a ragtop-lol). We both have family cars and the jeep has been "unused" for years as our "spare" car. She will not get rid of anything! Long story short- not really... The kids are 5 and 4 and now use booster chairs. We can put them in the jeep on weekends. So time to fix it up. Dead battery replaced, oil changed, spark plugs changed, etc, etc. Finally got it running. Noticed a gas leak on one of the hoses to/from the gas tank, rear underside, drivers side. Would like to replace the hose(s). But I'm weary of messing with gas items and havent ever. I hear you have to release gas pressure before anything. Then disconnect the fuel pump. My questions are these..will fuel spew if the hoses are removed? Or does the depressurization prevent spewing? Also.. After the pressure is removed, and the hose is repaired, does the gas repressurize itself? Or do I have to repressurize? If so, how? Thank you.
