Question Need help picking out a Jeep for Judi

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and joined seeking help in picking out a Jeep for girlfriend Judi.

Judi would love to have a "Daisy Duke" Jeep Wrangler Sport. This would be a simple, summer season only, recreation/run-around vehicle for her - always topless. She would like to spend under $5,000.00 including purchase costs and any needed repairs.

Any advice would be much appreciated? Where should I start? Would there be a year range I should look for?

Mel

to the Forum..

Wranglers have a high resale value. Your budget is not realistic. You may be able to find a nice TJ, for $8000-$10,000

Also, beware of rusted frames. You don't want one of them.

Glad to have you here!
Welcome to Wrangler Forum

Just keep an eye on your local craigslist, paper, facebook etc and see what pops up in your price range. In our area it's the YJs (1987-1995) in that range.

I believe this is what you're looking for, but it lists at $29,995

from this to that only $27000 and some skinned knuckles. I saw this in Warren Mn parked along the road.

I bought a 1995 YJ with no rust, hard top, AC, 6 cylinder engine, full steel doors with 100k miles for $7000. That was negotiating it down for a 20+ year old vehicle too. You "may" luck out and find someone who can't get theirs started dumping it off for like $2000 when it's really a $200-$500 fix (battery, alternator, starter, etc). Gotta be mechanically inclined or have a friend who is...

Thanks for the note. No problem on the mechanical part - can handle that. Just need to know what to avoid and stay away from. Will look closely for rusted frames...
