New 1999 Wrangler owners from AZ
My wife and I just bought a 1999 Wrangler Sport with only 47,000 miles on it and it's like new!

We're excited but ignorant when it comes to the "standard" modifications that people like to do to improve performace, etc. Air intakes? sound bars? lighting?

What are the "normal", not so expensive things that people do to stock Jeeps once they want to have some fun?

We do have BFG 30s and nice wheels so that's covered. We also have the hard top and soft top.

Wondering mainly about engine mods that don't go over the top. Any suggestions?

Not really any engine mods that serve much purpose on a TJ. The intake is about as free flowing as it can be, and to add an open filter introduces more dirt/water/dust to the engine than the sealed box does. The 4.0L isn't meant to be fast, but it will last just about forever if you take care of it. Spend your money on changing fluids, and maintaining it... Once you've driven it a while, it'll tell you where you need to spend more $ Wheel it to see where you feel like you'd like to change some things.

the air box ? I took mine off and made a home made cold air with the open filter and it made somewhat more power for my 4.0 1999 jeep. I just cut the tube where it starts to turn and put the the elbow and the filter. I got $20 dollars in it from auto zone. the more air the better but I don't go off road with mine. if you do I would just keep it like she is.ALABAMA
