New from Australia living in Colorado

Hey All,

Just received my new JK and am ready to hit the mountains and trails. It's a JKHR 6 speed in Billet. Already ordered a few upgrades, such as LED headlights, Currie deflator and tailgate storage.

The biggest fan of the new Jeep is our 1-year old Aussie Shepherd; she's especially loving the back seat removed and roof off.

Was planning lift/tires/wheels straight away, but think we'll go slower and get a feel for what she can do from the factory. We moved from Australia to Colorado with only a carry-on bag, so we have to figure out the tool situation too.

Thanks for so much great info here.

Welcome mate, another Aussie here, in MO. It's funny, they don't seem to like the manual much over here. Enjoy the ride.

Indeed. I was 95% sure I wanted a manual, but considered an auto for a few seconds; I figured it'd be a little easier to drive off road. For an adventure vehicle though, I couldn't go pass the simplicity and fun and challenge of a manual.

Yeah my missus wanted an auto - she's a yank and can't drive stick (well, not that kind). Personally, I like to be the one selecting the gears, not the machine.

What made you leave Aussie? The taxes? Where are you from? Newcastle here.

Anyway, all the best mate,

Mike

@ChuffHugginLoognat from the big smoke south of Newcastle Not exactly sure how I ended up here. Was looking for new places to live, heard Colorado was amazing, visited for a week, then moved here. Was living in Quebec before this.

Are you in MO permanently? I'm starting to think I may stay here long term.

Hang on, are you from Newie too?

To the yanks, 'straight away' is the straight on a race track. I've been in MO for a month, was in Texas and Louisiana for 10 years before this. I'll be here in MO til they run me off, I have a great job and the missus and kids are settling in nicely. A long distance dream is to move 'home' to Aussie, but crikey mate, the taxes. And the cost of living -how much is a new JKU over there? $100k?

I've just about nailed American as my second language!
