New from Texas

Howdy from Texas. Just had to use Howdy (for the cliche). New to this forum and a new Jeep owner as of Christmas. My wife bought me a 2009 Unlimited X. Love it!!

Now I need to customize it (its a sickness I know). I need you guys help on tire selection. I have decided on either V-Tec Raptor or Gear Blackjack wheels in black. The tires I have narrowed it down to are as follows: BFG All Terrain, BFG Mud Terrain, Goodyear Duratrac, Goodyear MT/R Kevlar, General Grabber AT2, Cooper Discoverer STT and Hankook Dynapro M/T RT03.

I do not really do any offroading other than the occassional going through some pastures. I just like the aggressive look (especially on the sidewall).

Any comments about wear and driving tech on the tires would be helpful. Also put your 2 cents in about which tire you would choose.

Thank you and it is a pleasure to be here.

Welcome! I have one had BFG A/T's, they were great and I would buy them again (I used them mostly for road use).

Welcome to the Forum

Tire preferences are as diverse as the members here. As for me, I'm a Duratrac fan. I've been running them for around three years now and love them. If I ever wear them out, they will be replaced with another set of Duratracs.

Thank you to all who welcomed me. Sorry it took all day to get back to you. I have been agonizing over wheels and tires. I think I am close to a decision.

of those you listed...I'd lean towards Duratrack.

Personally, I'm trying to figure our how to get up on a set of Falkens

I've also heard great stuff about Coopers.

Hard to go wrong...but very dependant upon your uses.
