New girl from SC!

Hey all. I've always wanted a Jeep and I'm finally about to buy one!
I'm beyond excited. Before it even being in my name, I've been on this forum wayyy too much. Figured it was about time I registered so I could ask a few questions.
Hope to not be too idiotic about some things! And I look forward to posting. :D

Oh, and I'll be getting a '98 TJ Hunter Green with Spice Soft Top! Any suggestions on any common problems or things I should look out for when test driving would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum! Be sure to check for rust on the undercarriage. I;m sure others will come up with more.

which engine does it have? just check it over really well, climb under it and check the frame, make sure none of the suspension parts are broken.

Welcome to the forum!

As mentioned before rust on the frame is one often overlooked and for that matter look it over well for signs of rust. Rust is inevitable but if has seen a lot of off road and not taken care of well the rust will be more severe. Pull the carpets up so you can see the floorboards, another rust spot. Find out the last time it had a tune up, oil change, transmission oil change and radiator flush.

Welcome. That is the same color combo of my first Jeep. Just do as the others above have mentioned. Good luck.

Welcome!

One major thing you have to look out for is: make sure you like how it drives.

Welcome to the forum. Take it off road and test your 4hi and 4lo. Take a short highway drive and feel for any suspension problems. If this is the one for you, you will know it. I think our jeeps pick us, just as much as we pick them,

Wow, thanks for all the friendly replies. And definitely the tips about checking rust and whatnot. Definitely didn't know that.
I've driven around a few times and I love love love love it.
I can't wait to go off roading and on roading to receive all the jealous looks (like I used to give anyone in a Wrangler). (:

If its the 4.0L check for an exhaust manifold crack, where all the pipe join in the engine bay. most 97-99 models will have it at some point. If your not sure what to look or listen for let us know.
