Smile New girl on the block

Hello! I am a proud new, first-time Jeep owner! I have driven pick-up trucks my whole life (GMC Sierras, with the last one being a Denali quadrasteer) but have always had my eye on Jeeps. Jeep owners just seem so happy and fun. So last week I said what the hell and just did it- traded in my "Daisy Denali" for a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, aka "Jemma Jeep", aka "The Silvah Bullet" (or SVABLT according to my MA license plate).
So far I LOVE it. Even with temps dipping into the low 40s at night now, I have had the top off since I took her home. I'll be honest though, aside from how awesome they look and how much fun they are to drive, I don't know much else about Jeeps and their awesomeness potential. Any friendly feedback is welcome
Another confession- not only am I a newbie Jeep owner, but I'm also brand new to the whole forum scene, which makes me doubly clueless! So any help/advice on that end too is also welcome and appreciated.

Looking forward to making some new friends!

Welcome to the world of Jeeps. I hope you love it as much as I love mine. Between my husband and I we've owned several. I'm new to this forum too, I read through all this stuff and learn things lol.

Thanks all for the warm welcomes!

So, does anyone recommend any upgrades or anything I should do to my new Jemma Jeep? Or any information I should know? I learned first hand all about the Jeep Wave this weekend :-)

Welcome aboard and congrats

I would drive the Jeep for awhile and get to know it. Find a local Jeep Club and go off roading a couple of times, then you can start making decisions about what you want/need to do.

Your LJ is a fantastic vehicle stock, i know, i had one too.

Check forums for ideas and shop around for prices and sales.

Have fun, thats the most important thing.
2016 JKU Sport, Automatic, Billet Silver, Mopar 4" Lift, Dick Cepek Fun Country AT Tires, ProComp 7031 Wheels, more to come.

Thank you :-)

One more thing... I need to be schooled in all the terms and abbreviations used here. Like, TJ and LJ.... Where can I find all the meanings?? Lol. Sorry!

Hi Jackie,

My wife and I are new to the forum as well. We have owned jeeps before but are not experts by any means.

The abbreviations you are referring to are production codes...
for example:
CJ were the older jeeps made from 1945-1986
YJ were the square headlight wranglers built from 87-96
TJ 97-2006
LJ (your model was built from 2004-2006 (I believe) longer 2 door model
JK 2007 to present and then the JKU is the four door model.

These are the most common codes you will see referenced on the Wrangler Forum (WF), but these references make it easier to let everyone know what Wrangler you have or are talking about in any given post.

We will be buying a new JKU very soon...(color choices are killing us)

hi all,

2004 TJ Sahara here,about 85,000 miles , SE WI.

Bought the TJ new in FL.

It's stock except I Moved to 1 " bigger (wider and taller) on the stock sahara rims , tires are GY silent armors and liking them.

Just replaced an O2 sensor this week along since I was getting a P0138. Thing was a little hard to bust loose, but finally came. ALso did the oil and filter this weekend, and prolly do trans and diffs this coming week-end.

I need to do some research on how to treat my oil pan, I was under it this weekend and it looks like the salts been tough on it.

Best rides for me were north of Phoenix, AZ. Couple of years ago was there for about 8 months , didn't do anything too extreme, but up to Crown King a few times (no, not the back way), up and over Four peaks a couple times, bombing along the Apache Trail , fire roads around Payson,, great fun.

Not much off-road in this part of the state, I may try to get hooked up with some of the WI clubs.

This forum seems a wealth of knowledge , thanks in advance for sharing !!
