New Guy from Jersey

Hello All,

Im new to the Wrangler Scene

I just helped my Sister pick up an 08 Wrangler 2 Door

In this transaction I have been inspired

My Question I pose to all of you... where should I start?

Her car will remain Stock but I am in the market for a 95 - 98

I've always been a fan of the straight 6

And I do drive Manuel Trans now so that make the selection easier Auto or Manuel it doesnt matter

What should I look for in a Vehicle?

Any Specific Problem Areas I should know about?

Let me know your over all Favorite version

Thx for the help Ahead of time

Welcome to the forum. The 95 would be a YJ (square headlights, leaf springs), No wranglers were built in 96 and the 97-06 are TJs, so that leaves a lot of info to cover. I would start by figuring out what kind of money you have to put into it and what you want to do with it (daily driver, off road, rock crawling). This will give you a better idea of what model you can afford and narrow down the list of items to look for. I always recommend buying as close to stock as possible to avoid any headaches that come with having a rig pre-modified and not knowing what has been done or if it was done properly.

Good Luck in your search.

Well I found a 99 TJ for $5350 with 123K on the ticker

Three inch lift, four Rancho 5000 shocks, and Rancho 5000 steering stabilizer shock a. 33" Firestone Destination tires, including the spare in like new Condition.

I plan on Daily Driving this beasty...

I currently have a 03 Civic SI Which is Lowered 3" Wheels tires the whole thing...

With all the Snow and my new found love for the outdoors the Civic isnt cutting it anymore...

The TJ is White with Tan Soft top Half doors

It might just be the one...

It looks great and the price is really reasonable. Now that we have a better idea of what you are looking at it will be easier to help you out. I see in your profile that you are in NJ. One thing to look for is rust. Surface rust is not an issue, but you need to check it out thoroughly. Check the frame and under the carpets in the front and rear floorpans. Take it out on the highway and get it to speed to see how it handles and what kind of power it has. Take it off road and check the 4WD (Hi and Lo) and make sure that they are functioning properly. If you have any questions, post them up in the TJ section and I'm sure that you will get the answers you need.
