Cool New guy just wanted to say hi.

Hi.
I thought I'd join your forum for purely selfish reasons. You all have what I want. More Jeep knowledge. So Thanks for letting me take advantage of you all. I usually have to get a person drunk first, but you all are willing participants. ;o).
I have had my 2003 Rubicon for 3 years now, but it was a daily driver, so I left it stock. Now I have $2000 dollars in my pocket and it's time for the little thing to grow up. I am hoping to extract from your vast knowledge, the best way to lift it 3 to 4 inches on $2000, so thank you for letting me use and abuse you.

For the Summer I am living out at my lake house near Fort Morgan. We just moved back over to this side of the state from Junction, and we are looking for some property somewhere around the Greeley/ Fort Collins area.
I think for right now I'm just gonna go with the RCD 3" lift and maybe a 1.25 body lift with probably 33's. It was a hard fought battle to get my wife to agree with the $ 2000, because shes not working right now and we just spent a bunch buying a boat.( Compromise is the key to my peace ). The RCD will get me started and as I go, I will play with it. One day it will grow up and have a long arm, but for now, baby steps.
I'm trying to decide if I'm gonna be able to do 33's with this setup. Quadratech is telling me I will need wheels spacers for 33x 12.50's, but this tomb raider has the fender flares and I think they may rub. Any thoughts?

I think they are pulling that out of there ass. I have 33x12.50. I have a 3.5 inch lift I have never rubbed in my life. No I haven't gone to anything like Moab. And idk if stiff like that is in your future but you will be more than fine with a 3 inch suspension and a 1.25 inch body.

The guy that told me I would need the spacers was a live chat guy and said that he had the same lift and that I would need wheel spacers. Could it be because of the offset of my stock Tomb raider wheels, or maybe just a design flaw in RSD's 3" lift?

Thank You !

Really depends on the backspacing on your current wheels. They are talking about wheels rubbing on suspension components, not rubbing your fenders.

For stock wheels you need spacers with a 12.5" wide tire

You have aftermarket wheels with less BS.

Less backspacing. It affects how far out (or in) the rim, and therefore the tire, sits.

Check this thread out (1st reply to the original post may have what you need):

Thanks. I'll have to figure out what the backspacing is on my Tomb Raider rims. How much backspacing is normally needed to clear 12.50's?

You probably have about 5" bs. Post a pic, idk what wheels are on a tr. You need a max of 4.5" for 12.5" tires on a TJ.

Thanks Infernogirl. I found the bs on my wheels. It's 4.75. Kinda pushing the upper limits for 12.50's. But I just read a guy's staement that he has the same wheels and tires, and doesn't rub. We'll see. Thanks to all of you for the Welcome mat. BTW, Please don't judge me for having a Tomb Raider. I wasn't shopping for one. I was looking for a silver or black Rubicon and stumbled across an 80 year old eccentric that liked to collect rare cars. I bought it 5 years old with 15,000 miles on it for about 2 grand less than the average price I could find on a Rubicon, most having a lot more miles. The thing never left his garage and still had 60,000 miles worth of warranty left. I gotta say though, that I do love the seats, wheels, and dash colors. And the poster of Angelina standing in front of it looks nice in the garage.

Welcome to the forum! You could always go with 33 x 10.50's after looking around a bit I've grown fond of the tall narrow tire look. Soon as that 2 grands gone you'll be hiding every penny you can from the wife for the next Jeep itch

I haven't even touched the 2 grand yet and I'm already stashing money. I have 2 $ 100 bills folded up under my drivers license in my wallet. I have a few R/C rock crawlers and a monster truck that are gonna go on Craigslist. That's not a stash. We have an agreement that selling toys gets me money for toys. If the addiction gets too bad, I have my GSXR1000, that I could sell. I own it outright, so that would easily put close to $5 grand in my jeep fund. My wife just fell in love with the new Tahoe that we rented for vacation, and now she has to have one. If she gets a Tahoe, I will never let her complain about my expenses again. Plus, I just got her the boat she wanted, so I have a bit of a free pass coming, I believe. ( Haven't tested that theory yet).
