new guy with a rusted out 87

I've been browsing and decided to join finally due to my Jeep finally entering project status. Still being driven, but getting torn up at the same time. Any help relating to rust, engine rebuilding, rust, upgrades, and rust are appreciated. It's not my first project but my first Jeep. Hopefully this works out for all of us. lmao

if the frame has a lot of rust get a new rust free one. YJ or TJ as the tubs will mount to either one (TJ gets you coil spring suspension) then work from there.

Welcome. Strip, sand, and chip the rust as best you can. Use the rust converter from lowes. There is a product called naval jelly also, it eats all rust away, but gives no protection after. If you use it prime and paint immidiately. I prefer the converter, every new jeep should come with a case of the shit.

The frame is in surprisingly good shape. It's the tub that's getting bad. I'm gonna get it patched up before winter sets in and debating on replacing everything with fiberglass. wifey is winning that debate right now though. Would the later tubs bolt up to the 87 frame? I already have a lift, newly rebuilt tranny and transfer on it so I hate to scrap it just for some metal that's slowly disappearing.
