New Jeep Owner - Hawaii

Hello! New guy from Hawaii here, I recently bought a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited and have been lurking around the forum reading some posts, figured I'd might as well join up.

Looking to learn and talk jeep with everyone.

Aloha Victor! We have stayed in the Kahuku/ Laie area both times that we have been there, next time we plan on renting a Jeep when we return next year.

We're heading out there around the middle of May. Hope to rent a JKU when we get there. Do you have any recommendations on where to wheel?

Talon38c, I'm over on the Kailua side (Windward/Eastside) of the island, not much off-roading around these parts. Kaena Point on the West Side of the island is a good spot to off-road, but you'll need a permit to do so.

If you're looking to hike some trails, there are plenty! You may want to check out Lanikai Pillbox hike, Mokapu'u trail, there are many more out there with varying difficulty, these two are easy. Try Kokohead if you want a challenge, but awesome views.

For relaxing, I'd check out Kailua/Lanikai beach (right next to each other), Haleiwa on the North Shore, Chinaman's hat beach. Sharks cove has some great tide pools and equally good food trucks lined up across the road. All good spots to cruise around and see some good sites.

If you need any other recommendations, let me know!

We were on the Eastside day before yesterday. Lots of rain but fun. Saw Chinaman's Hat and continued up the coast. Got as far as Giovanni's then headed back to Honolulu. Heading back tomorrow see the Pillbox and Kailua to see some friends. Today we went up the Westside. Got a few Jeep Waves from locals. Tuesday we will be heading up the North Shore. My son graduated from HU and has been a pretty good guide.
