New JKU OC, CA

Would like to say hello to WF out from OC, CA.

Just picked up my 2015 Anvil JKU. I traded in my 4th Gen 4Runner and loving the new ride. I hope to make many friends and learn much from the community.

Thanks Anvil. I can't wait to start modding this. I was so expecting to slap on 33-35" tires and a small lift. The problem is, this thing drives so nice compared to my 4Runner. I really don't want to mess with the ride. Just threw on some Maguire's Ultimate Wax and boy is this Jeep long. Took me way longer than expected.

Lol I hear you.

Don't make any quick decisions about lifting. Explore the forum and learn. There's tons of info here. Also, a quality lift will improve the ride quality.
I just finished lifting my 2dr and it handles better then stock.

Enjoy the forum.

Quick q. I was thinking about getting some Rubicon rails and was wondering if they would offer "door ding" protection in parking locks. Meaning do they stick out enough to be the first line of defense between some soccer moms Tahoe and my Jeep?

BTW, love the hood decal. Black trim and this Anvil color are made for one another.

Rails or side armor is a great call for lots of reasons. Helps in parking lot ding prevention as well as on trails. Helps to climb up to possible racks on top. As mentioned above looks way cooler. There is a huge selection most are super easy install. Good Luck

Thanks George. The selection seems the be a problem...way too big!! The Rubi rails seem sort of low key. Would you say the Mopar Rubicon rails stick out enough to save my doors?

Hey there, I too am from OC...
There are several types that dont stick out to far. I actually have some coming tomorrow. I would think the Rubi rails wont help much in door ding territory, depending on what car door dings u of course. If u are set on Rubi's check craigslist from time to time, ive seen em for sale for 100 bucks used but not trail used. Good luck!

You mean the AZZ that could not care any less about your door!! I have Rubi rails. Mounted under the Rubi rails, and stick out about 8", I have Ace rock rails. With that, when the jeep is lifted you start getting good door protection. Hope that made sense, still on first coffee. Lmao.

The avatar is small but that's not a hood decal. It's the real deal, a Poison Spyder hood louver. It's works great and I really like it. The install is a bit hair raising!

In my build thread I explain how it's done.

https://www.wranglerforum.com/f314/gr...d-1070993.html

It's a cool inexpensive mod. Balls of steel required. Lol

Been searching CL for Runi rails (new) and just can't see myself putting used anything on my "new" Jeep.

You purchased the Rubi rails? CL or new?

No, I installed some smittybilt ones. I was gonna buy Rubi's but wanted a little more height up the body for coverage. Mission accomplished, but now want to add body armor to the bottom tub areas.
I would've bought thr Rubi rails of CL if I wanted to go that route. as long as they werent ever on a trail and damaged, they would be great for $100. Just find some takeoffs off a new jeep if possible..

Welcome, fellow OC'n myself, hope to see you on the trails. The best thing I did, was drive my Jeep for a while, get it out on the trails, and decide how I wanted to use it. Then figure out what you need to get you there. It's taken me over a year to get where I am at and I am still going (don't tell my wife). Here are a couple of pictures to help inspire you. PM me if you ever want ot get out of dodge...

First Picture is day one, second was last week after I got her new shoes...
