The last time I went to the Uwharrie forest here in NC I discovered my extended cab Z71 wasn't going to make it through the terrain and over the hills and I knew I'd have to pick up a Wrangler.
I've had a couple of Grand Cherokees and really like the 4.0L & I decided on a TJ. Anyways, I bumped into one and picked it up this week.
I drove it to the DMV, got plates, started it and the throwout bearing broke! lol. So, it's parked here in my driveway and I'll begin working on it soon. I have many plans for it. It has an unknown lift on it and has been abused a bit but it has super low (under 90k) miles on it, at least according to the odometer. She shakes over 50mph and the dash went out on the way home too, so it looks like I have a bit of work to do.
I've stalked the forums for quite some time. Thank you for all of the great information. It has helped me select a LUK clutch and many other great parts already and I'm really happy to see the vendors here.
I am a member of several other forums online so I am happy to be here. I'll probably start with some crazy questions, and hopefully be able to contribute in the future. I'm not a super active member but I will indeed check in from time to time and will likely be a long term member.
As for the Jeep, I want to get it so it's nice and reliable. I'll use it for short trips around town, hunting, trips to the Uwharrie, camping and I also surf fish down at the beach. So, hoping to get her to the point she is tolerable on the highway and can handle some basic trails that require 4WD and the short wheel base.
It's a 2002 Wrangler with an unknown lift.
