Hey All!

Im a novice car enthusiast that has yet discovered jeep wranglers. A little about my self. I have been driving for only 5 years, and i have been through 8 cars due to my bad habit of wanting change. I've owned cars as little as 2 weeks . I currently drive a 2008 Dodge Caliber SRT-4. The car last dyno'ed at 310hp/325tq. The car is fast, fun, but not exactly the car i was hoping for (Owned for 8 months now).

So for the past year or so, I have been interested in getting myself a wrangler. The thing is, im afraid that It wont last long with me. So I am kind of looking for what would be the best option for me. I feel like I should buy an older wrangler to "test the waters", before I go with a much newer/expensive one.

So what do you guys recommend? How do I know if the wrangler will be right for me? Is there a certain year I should be looking for? and how important is it to get the 6-cylinder(I6 or v6?)?

I am looking forward to responses!

Thanks,
rpkittle

Thanks for the warm welcome! I hope to find time tonight to do some research on what I should get. Maybe stupid question, but is there a "personality test" to see if the jeep wrangler is right for you?

Welcome to the Forum Rpkittle

I don't believe that a test of that nature exists but,
if you are looking for speed then a Wrangler is not for you.
If you are looking for great gas mileage, then a Wrangler is not for you.
If you are looking for the most fun you can have on four wheels, a feeling of freedom with the ability to go anywhere and the adaptability to build it any way you want then yes, a Wrangler just might be right for you.

This is what intrigues me the most! I'm a fan of having a unique car. Example, current sled is one of only 5,000. If I were to get a wrangler, its definitively going to be modified. Would you guys suggest I get a real cheap(meaning old and rough) wrangler to start off with? or maybe I can find someplace that can rent a wrangler out for the day. Now that I think of it, maybe I can borrow a wrangler from the stealership where I get my oil changes done at.
