new member looking to buy.

Hello, we live in Pa. and I looking for best year for a 19 y.o. to start to drive in. He is handy so he can repair it a decent amount. brakes etc. I am looking for a year he can afford and he can somewhat maintain. I don't want a motor needing to be rebuilt yet. I am sure he will be joining and modifying it etc. He is a country boy at heart. Not afraid to get dirty or work hard. As a mom I am looking for safety and ease of repairs for first jeep. Hard top. It doesn't need air. Since he is still in tech school. He needs to keep it under 8000. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. My first priority is the safest year since he is just starting to drive. I realize it's not a Volvo. Any safety features are a bonus to us mom's. Thanks.

Because this is the newbie check-in area, you may not get the answers you are looking for. I suggest you check out these forum areas and post your questions there, I think you'll get a better response. IMO a late TJ model or early JK would probably be best.
