New owner from Quebec

Hi everybody, nice to be able to join the club.

Back to Jeep again.

Going backwords, I got in '96 a Cherokee Country that I kept for 10 years. Best vehicule I ever had. That ride getting old, I changed for a 2006 Suzuki GV when they came out. It had to be 4 doors because of the kids and enough space for the dog in the back. the Wrangler Unlimited wasn't out yet, so the reason I went for this, also tought that it would be easier on gas, but no, the same as the Cherokee.

Suzuki went down in the US and now they are closing in Canada as well and the GV is now 8 years old, soooooooo, here comes the Jeep I always dreamed about since being a kid. The kids have now their own cars, and the dog is getting too old to climb in a car.

Don't have it yet, only tomorrow. It will be a black used 2012 JK Sport, 2 doors, no AC and with just the soft top, manual 6 spds and with 17 000 km on it.

It's also equipped with already rusted steel rims and Firestone Destination M/T tires.

So first things will be to get new mags for summer, keep the steel rims for winter, need winter tires and a hard top for winter.

First priority will be to look after a used hard top, if I can find one, then with what's left I will look after real mods.

Will post pictures of it tomorrow.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of Canadians here.

I thought Quebec uses sand instead of road salt? How can these steel wheels be rusted so soon? I ran chromed steel wheels for about 2 years on a different vehicle before they started to rust... then could take it off with soap pads but it was too much work for me.

Roads here are white with road salt, however we get less snow.
