New to Jeeps

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Jeeps. I test drove a Sahara 11 Unlimited and really enjoyed it. Compared the ride to an Xterra and 4Runner. While the gas mileage is the lowest on the Jeep, it's not that much lower, and there's just something about them.

I'm not interested in doing too much work, short of adding a winch and some HAM gear to the vehicle. The Sahara looks like it has everything I need, but I'm open to suggestions. 2010 or 2011?

Yesterday I test drove a Sport S 11 Unlimited and the dealer added some mods. Bigger tires, lots of chrome (not my thing, but whatever) etc.

One of the things that I noticed during the test drive is that the wheels actually rubbed when making a u-turn. I don't recall this happening on the Sahara. Is that normal for Jeeps??!?

Thanks for your help!!

Welcome to the forum! As for differences between 2010 and 2011 models, ask the dealer to explain the major differences. As for wheel rub, no, that is not "normal". But if you can like with it until it rubs your tires down or wears out you wheel well guard, you are a better person than I. To me, a new vehicle should be free of issues minus the standard recall or tsb's. Good luck with your decision. Dont rush it.

Welcome to the forum!

Tires are most likely rubbing because the backspace on the wheels is too large for the width of the tires. It can easily be fixed by adding a washer or two to the steering stops. So don't let that stop you from buying that one if it's the one you want..... Don't forget to wave to the other Jeepers you see....

Thanks everyone,

It's too bad that the salesman played it off as normal. I figured it couldn't be right. Looks like I'll need to find a better dealer.

I'm still researching this and looking for the best price now. The hard part is that Jeep is posting their best sales numbers in years. So much for getting a discounted rate! I was hoping for slightly less than the TL discount.

Thanks again!

Trying to work out the details and price with a dealer now. Do any of you have extended warranties? Are they worth it?

Thanks again everyone!

Ended up getting a Saraha Unlimited with Nav and Leather. More than I planned on at a great price well below TL!! Ok...here's the thing...the guys who sold me the car didn't know what the wave was!?!?

Is it something special or do I just start waving to people??

Thanks again!
