Newbie

Hello to all. Thanks for having me. I just recently purchased an 2000 Wrangler Sahara 4.0 with an auto trans with 120,000 on the clock. The body is in excellent condition, however the engine is got that typical 4.0 piston skirt slap and the tranny has a little slip in it. Also my interior is old and tired. I am considering buying a 2003-2006 salvage with a good rolling frame, possibly a rollover with low miles and swapping body tubs. Im figuring $1500-$2000 for a long block from Jasper engines and and additional $750- $1000 for the tranny overhaul. I think it would be worth it to buy the salvage and would also benefit by getting a clean interior(dash.seats. carpet, ect...)and having a 4 speed overdrive tranny. I was wondering if my body tub will bolt onto the 2003 frame. I realize its alot of work, but i have access to a shop with three lifts and have the mechanical experience to accomplish this task. Thanks Muskie

Changing tranny fluid and filter will probably fix the slip. Interior can be cleaned up pretty easily with some bedliner and a carpet shampooer for the seats. Then put some seatcovers on them to make them your own. If you want to swap everything, your tub should fit fine.
