Newbie from the UK

Hi Folks,

First off I'm a total 4x4 noob, so please be gentle! I'm currently considering purchasing a Wrangler as a second car, however my local dealer is rubbish, so I thought I'd come ask a few questions from people that know!

So here's some background....

I'm currently driving around in a 2 seat nissan 350z, which is great fun, but... because I've stopped driving to work I just don't use it as much, so it's just sitting there, which is a real shame.

I have a 'proper' family car for myself, the wife, my daughter (6), my son (2) and a baby due in about 20 days

However I want to get a fun car for the weekend for myself, I would also like to be able to get the family into the car as well.

I've taken up Mountain biking as a hobby, so I imagine most of the time I'll be transporting just me and a mate and our bikes to whatever trails we can find, and hopefully have some off road fun in the car before we pull the bikes out!

As I mentioned previously I'd really like to be able to take the whole family out as well on occasion, so this would mean I'd need 2 child seats and a booster seat accomodated.

I understand the Wrangler isn't family friendly, I don't really want it to be, however it would be great if I could take my family out in it.

So to the questions:

1. I REALLY REALLY like the styling of the two door Wrangler, is there anyway I can get me, the wife and three kids in it? Does the 2 door have a 3 rear seat belts?

If required, the wife can sit in the back with the kids if there's no room for a booster and two car seats, and my daughter can sit on a booster in the front with me. But from a legal point of view we will need 3 seat belts on the back seat.

2. I'm not interested in a hard top, I love convertibles, I've heard the soft top is quite difficult to take down and put up, is this right?

3. If I have to get the 4dr version is the softtop any good on that? The freedom roof looks a pain, as I understand you need two people to take it off.

That's it for now, thanks for your patience, and remember, be gentle with me

All the best

James.

welcome from kansas.

1. No the 2 door wrangler does not have three seat belts in the back, only two and only is a two seater in the rear bench seat.

2. Not to sure on how hard the soft top is to take down hopefully someone else will chime in with that info for you.

3. Again I'm not sure about the soft top, The freedom top is said to be a poor design and not very disired.
