Noob from Spokane

Hello all, stumbled on this forum while looking for info on my YJ (actually the wifes YJ). I did a small block swap last year, regeared it, lifted it, now the tranny has gone south. I know I will probably catch some grief, but it is an auto also. It has the 999 and now it is making a noise similar to a cracked flywheel, but the flywheel is good. It is also slipping after it is warmed up. I want to just do a 700r4 swap but the funds are a little low at this time; so I am looking for a used 999 to just get it going for now. I also was thinking of going with a 727, just can't find an answer on the length difference. I am trying to avoid building new drivelines at this time.

Finished building the bumpers a few months ago and got the winch mounted. I can use any and all advice anyone is willing to share, I have only built trucks in the past. I have lifted literally hundreds of vehicles ( worked for a shop for 10 years). I do know one thing, I should have just done a SOA instead of the lift springs, it rides like a lumber wagon.

Enough of my ranting, I hope to gain and contribute to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Have you checked on Craigslist for a 700R. I saw a couple in there a week or so ago for about $150 or so. I prefer the SM465 but that is just me. You shouldn't catch much grief from driving an auto. Most hardcore crawlers are autos.

One of these days we'll have to wheeling together.

I prefer to stay auto, my knees are shot and I have been known to disable clutches pretty fast.

Howdy and welcome.

I used to be on the other side of Mt. Rainier. Some great places to wheel in the PNW.

Welcome! I am over in Tacoma. Anything good going on up here? Meet & Greets, Cruises, Light Trail Riding? My baby is no rock hound, and I didn't purchase as a safari hunting ride so, looking to keep 'er relatively clean and scratch/dent free.

Hope all works out with the swap. And fyi, mine is an auto too. Sticking and moving in traffic sucks. I get enough of that pain in my Vette with an RPS Stage 3+ Dual-Friction. An auto is a welcome blessing.

There's Evans Creek ORV park out past Carbonado. Bout a 45 minute drive from Tacoma. You'll need to buy a Northwest Forrest Pass at the gas station in Carbonado if you don't want the tree police hassling you. ...I think it's a 76 station. Only one on the main road through town. Day pass used to be $5 or $35 for a yearly pass a year ago. Some of those trails get tight; requiring even a TJ to make 3 point turns to get through some close trees during some of the turns. Mostly medium difficulty trails and some healthy black diamonds. Crazy buddy of mine used to beat up his stock TJ on '31s on some of the rocks out there.

There's also Capital Forrest out past Olympia. No pass required that I know of. Mostly easier logging trails. There's an OHV park near there too, but I don't know that they are actually open anymore.

Edit: Evans Creek is probably "off limits" by now from the snow. Or will be by this time next month.
