Noob X 2, noob to form, noob to jeeps

New member from Merritt Island Florida.
This looks like a great place with tons of info, I will probably be spending too much time on this site....
I do have a couple of questions:
1. when do i start a new tread versus adding something on a thread that similar to what i wanted to know?
2. you have 1000's of treads, how am i to know if my subject was already discussed?
3. Does a tread ever get closed out to new postings? ex. dud A had a question, that gets answered so is tread closed and i should start a new one or do i add to his and keep it going? what if no one has posted on said tread for 1 week? 1 month?

Sorry for all the questions, but not that I have a jeep i know I will have a bunch of questions.

Even if you post on an old thread, when you post a reply it will move it to the top of the forums and people will see it, answer your question, etc. Also, you can use Google to search just this website, I think the formatting for it is (site:wranglerforum.com), just add it to your query. Or just literally type "wranglerforum my question". And as far as similar questions to another thread, do what you feel. I am always on this forum looking at new posts hoping someone asks a question I can answer with my limited knowledge. If you build it, they will come

Okay, I think I can help.

When someone creates a thread, even though it is public, its still their thread. When posting to someone's thread, the etiquette is that people post to answer the OP's (original poster's) question or to continue the conversation. If you have something similar and the answers aren't already in the thread, then its acceptable to post there. If you have something somewhat similar but not exactly like the OP, then a thread of your own would be appropriate. Things aren't black and white but you wouldn't want to ask questions about your tire size options in a thread when someone is discussing a particular tire.

We do have a search function but we don't force people to use it. In fact' it is a no-no in the forum rules to give someone a hard time for not searching. In addition to the forum search function, you can use google and put "Wrangler Forum' in the search question (i.e.: Wrangler Forum - stock JKU tire size options)

Wrangler Forum doesn't delete anything. If a thread turns into arguments or "flame fests" it will often just be locked so no further posts can be made. If there is a spammer or something particularly offensive, it will be moved off the board into the moderation "trash bin". The thread or post still exists but can only be seen by the forum staff.

In the mean time, I just like to say . . .

As far as the picture size goes, I've posted a chart below.

For the most part, I've found when posting from a PC, the forum server will automatically shrink pics if they are too big. This doesn't always work when posting from a phone.
