Potential new Jeeper come Monday

Greetings!

It's been a few years since I've owned a jeep (had an 89' Sahara back in 2004 but had to get rid of it for practical reasons). Now I have a chance to rejoin the jeep club.

My purpose here is two fold, the first and most importantly is to say hi and that i look forward to frequenting these forums often. So, Hello

The second is to get the opinion of the more experienced Jeepers here.
Come this Monday i have the opportunity to purchase an '03 Sahara with 33k on the odometer for 15k. It comes pre-lifted 4" on 35" Toyo Open Country M/T tires, with 20-inch Status chrome rims (tires and rims have only been used for 7,500 miles according to the seller.)

I've been shopping around for a used jeep for a few months now and this strikes me as a good deal, but i am open to your thoughts and opinions.

Link to the jeep in question: Linky

Again, hello and thank you for your time.

-w

(also, i've already accumulated quite the wish list on quadratec. i had almost forgotten how addictive the jeep bug can be )

Welcome to the forum

Price on the Jeep seems sort of steep, especially considering the fact that most here will tell you that Chrome 20's on a Wrangler make baby Jesus cry..... Other than replacing the wheels and tires with something more functional, depending on what lift it has and if everything was done properly, if you can get it for less it's probably not a bad deal.

Agreed. You will probably want to ditch those rims and wheels almost immediately upon purchase adding another 1k to the deal. If you don't replace them...."sniff" it will make the Jeep/us sad.

Glad to hear that, otherwise I was thinking that this was a joke. Welcome to the forum.

After thinking more about it and talking with the seller, i decided to forgo on that jeep. The price as Inferno pointed out was a bit high and i would have to drop 2-2.5k on new rims and tires.

So it was with a heavy heart i backed out of the deal.

Back to the drawing board for a jeep. Thank you again for the advice!

Don't give up, there is a wrangler out there with your name on it. You can pick up an 03 for a lot less than that. Try to find something as close to stock as you can and use the money you have left over to build it the way you want.

Not sure where you are located, but i found a few in the SE US that are serious potentials for me.

This week will be spent making tons of calls and haggling like crazy.

Agree with everyone above. I just got mine (a 2002 lifted) for $12,000 and she is in great shape. You can find one cheaper than that -- and without those blinding wheels.

Keep looking. When you find the right one, she will talk to you. You will know. Kinda like falling in love....you just KNOW.
