Question

I got a 2011 jk sport soft top, 1/2 doors. I'm concerned about safety. Like someone taking it messin w/it. What precautions has everyone taken? Locking the doors seems useless!

As far as messing with it, I leave nothing I want to keep in it. I don't lock the glovebox or center console or doors. The only things in there are replaceable. I have the Bestop underseat lockbox and love it and use that if I don't feel like taking my Ipod with me. My seat is up so far nobody even knows it's there. I am one of "those" people that have an after-market security system. A Viper 350 with proximity sensor for the cab area. It's working great now. Was a PITA in the beginning. Had it installed beginning of April, just now have it tweaked just right. It is worth mentioning I don't have power windows or locks, so the security system is just the base model. Most people don't worry about people messing with their Jeeps. It took a while for the new-to-me to wear off and leave the top down out in public.

Get The Club and A Club and use them both lol. Seriously dont lock the doors if you want your soft top intact. and x2 "dont leave anything you want to keep in your jeep"

I leave nothing in there to take and the top is off. I'd get a security system if you're really worried, but I live in the country and no one has messed with mine so far! Congrats on your new jeep!!!

I live just outside NYC and there's plenty of theft, and make plenty of trips to the city, but it hasn't deterred me from converting my YJ to soft top. Well it's not on yet but in my possession, and will be going on soon. I definitely don't like the idea that anyone with a pen knife can easily get in my Jeep, and ruin the top. But I hate alarms and won't put one in. Like others said, I don't plan on keeping much in the way of valuables in there, but I never do in any vehicle anyway. The reinforced center console lock box sounds like an attractive idea. I'm less concerned about stolen items or theft of the whole vehicle than I am about somebody slashing the top. So I might just leave the doors unlocked, keep nothing in there, and maybe wire up a hidden kill switch. Or keep a poisonous snake inside.

A guy I work with had a CJ7 soft top back in the 80's, brand new not even a week old, and somebody went up his driveway over night and actually took the windshield frame. I can't imagine the look on his face in the morning. Hope I never have to tell a story like that!

Thanks for the advice everyone! The hidden lock box sounds like a good idea. I really don't keep anything in my jeep but a car that is basically open at all times is screaming for attention... Guess it could really happen anywhere... I'm just a bit over-protective.... It's my baby-blue! Haha.

I'm still over-protective & I bought her pre-owned back in March, but it hasn't stopped me from driving it in the city. I've noticed most people just treat it like any other car & leave it alone, till this one time someone stuck their pre-chewed gum on it. Gross. That's the worst that's happened so far.

Ugh! Some people have no respect!!! It's a freaking Jeep! They should bow down to it! Lol they are just jealous!! If they only knew the power of the Jeep they'd never touch it! Hahaha (yea, I'm over-protective too)
