Hey everybody. So...I bought a 93 YJ super cheap back in '06 and soon after that my dad insisted that I sell it to him (owned it for all of 3 weeks). Which was fine and all, he had always wanted a Wrangler and I had just bought a house. I thought he'd drive it around for a year or two and sell it back...nope. I offered a built foxbody Mustang. a real nice '00 Xterra. I wanted this Jeep back, bad. But he decided to let it go just last week when he found a killer deal on an old Ranger. Now, Im sure there are a few people here who bought their Jeep, started working on it and thought, "what have I gotten myself into?" Engine leaks oil like no other. Called the old man up and asked when the last time he changed the oil. "Im not sure when the last time it was. Hasn't been changed this year. I never had much faith in that motor." That along with flat springs and an AX5 that scratches going into second. Im not real sure where to start my project. I have been told that JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket.
Now my noobie questions are,
1)Do I throw a set of gaskets on the motor and run it till its done? replace it, rebuild it? Seeing as it does have 180k on it.
2)Do I bother rebuilding the AX5 and has anybody ever tried syncromesh in it? It worked in my Honda, will it work in a Jeep.
3)Whats the largest tire that is recommended for a stock 4cyl. Im running 33x12.5s now.
4)Should I buy a nice set of Canyons with 31x11.5s for $200?
5)Why do I ask so many questions (Its late and I'm tired)
When I get a moment, Ill jump on the search and see what I can come up with.
