Soon to be TJ owner

Hi

I am from South Africa and will hopefully have my TJ in the next day or two. She is a black 2003 Sahara 4.0 Automatic with only 96 000km.

I'll post some pics once I get her.

It has 31" BFG All Terrains on some shiny 16" Racing Hart Concept wheels - not entirely conviced of them yet, I might just paint them black.
It also has front bullbar with a large winch, HUGE spotlights, hi-lift jack, pioneer head unit and both hard and soft tops. It might have some coil spacers as it looked a little higher than stock but that might just be the tyres. I'd buy whether it has the lift or not so I did not bother checking properly.

What is a realistic freeway cruising speed for a 4.0 Auto?

Love to hear about Jeep love overseas.. IMO around 70 mph is a good crusing speed if the speed limit alows for it. The biggest issue is if you have to make a quick move left or right at a high speed you risk rolling it, which is easier to do at a high rate of speed in a TJ then other vehlicles due to it's short wheelbase.. I probably wouldn't want to go over 80 in one on a consistent basis. But with that said in a strait away getting up to 90 and over isn't to difficult for the I6 at all.. I've done 92 in a friends TJ.. But don't plan to go that fast in one again..

Thanks XJ Knight. 70mph is plenty fast enough for me. My daily driver up till now was a '72 280 Mercedes and even though it can still do 120+mph, 60mph is a confortable speed in it. My wife drives a Patriot Limited so we use that if we need to travel longer distances.

I've had another look at the Wrangler - still hoping to get it this week - and it has some 2 inch spacers installed. How can I determine if the previous owner installed different shocks after the spacer lift?

I also noticed that it has the Dana 44 rear axle, not sure about the front but I assume it would be a Dana 30 as it is a Sahara model.

Took the top off, fixed couple of cosmetics including spraying the rear fender flares textured black (front ones up for next weekend) and took her for her maiden voyage.
