Thank you for having this forum!
I come from a history of German cars. I traded in my 2000 CLK430 Cabrio for this 2002 in the Sahara trim. I have owned a few older Mercedes in the last 10 years. Before that, it was VWs: a sandrail, a buggy, a couple Baja bugs, and a convertible bug.
I've always wanted a Jeep, now have one.
That being said, I know there are factions within each owner group. I have had the tendency to ignore them and just "do what I want, it's my vehicle". But I also lean toward being a purist, but -surprising to me- don't see my Jeep the same way. It seems I see very few -if any- stock older Jeeps. But I haven't changed anything yet.
It does have larger wheels and tires, and a different bumper.
Before I do, are there things that Jeep owners just "aren't supposed to do"?
For instance...mine is a Sahara edition. I like the interior, but the top is faded. Is it a dumb move to paint the hard top black? I was kicking around Arma coating the scratched fenders.
What kinds of things get Jeep owners made fun of?
I have already learned some good info here and have had fun with all of the waves from other Jeep owners. I appreciate your input!
