Want to buy a Wrangler.

Hi, my username is DJ198850 because I am a Mustang fan and my hobby is my 1988 5.0 Mustang that I have countess hours into. Anyway, I joined the site because I am looking to buy a more fun winter vehicle that I can also have fun with in the summer without breaking the bank. I have a 98 escort with 120k on it for my winter car right now. It gets great mpgs and i know it will last. The problem is that it is not the best car to drive through deep snow and it is terribly boring, lol. If I was to sell it and get about 2400 and buy a 95 ish 4x4 4cyl (manual of course) wrangler for the same cost, would it be a smart decision? I don't know anyone with a jeep and have not heard if they are good vehicles or not. Just wanted to get something more fun for the winter without sacrificing reliability or costing way too much to repair. Also, what years should i be looking for and what should i look for when checking the vehicle for problems.
Thanks!!

Coulda sworn I replied to this thread?

Look for a late model YJ with a 6 cyl engine. The 4cyl just doesn't have the power that the 6 cyl has and it doesn't get any better MPG.

EDIT: Btw you don't need to repost the thread multiple times. We can see all new threads.

Sorry I posted twice. I just thought I would get better tech-related replies in the gen-discussion section. Thanks for the replies, hope to be an active member with a jeep of my own soon!

I agree. Before you purchase a 4 cyl, drive a 6. The difference, if any in MPG isn't worth the difference in power you will have.
