Why did I wait so long?

I have had my 2002 TJ for a little over a year now. I spent most of my life up in the rust belt. Although I had always admired Wranglers, I avoided them because of rust stories from friends. When I moved to sunny Florida, it was time to get a Jeep.

I hunted for the perfect Jeep for a couple of years. I wanted a TJ. I wanted the 6 cyl engine. I wanted an LJ (Couldn't make that happen). I wanted red. I was shocked at the prices. I looked at hundreds of ads and drove dozens of Jeeps.

I found my baby with a rebuilt title and an affordable price at a Jeep accessories shop. I found a photo on the internet of it wrecked so knew exactly why the title was rebuilt and checked it out with a mechanic. I got exactly the vehicle that I expected it to be.

It has an incredible amount of road noise. It leaks. The ac sweats. It has no storage space. It is terrible for passengers in the back seat. The sun is always in my eyes when the top is down. The windshield is always dirty. It is a giant box driving down the highway. Gas mileage sucks. IT IS PERFECT!

It is my daily driver and has never given me a lick of trouble. It is my beach baby, my truck, my grocery-go-getter, and my week-ender. I am keeping it relatively stock. It has no lift with 31s. My wife has trouble climbing in as it is, no lift for me. I added a security/storage box in the back (no seat) and a security center console. I added some cosmetic details to make the jeep unique to me.

I look forward to a long relationship. Why did I wait so long to get one?

We just bought a 2000 Wrangler Sport (tj) .. we have trailered motorcycles for many years and decided, in latter years, we would have more fun with a tow vehicle. We have friends and family members who have Jeeps .. everyone loves them !! It was an easy decision. People say...but it is a rough ride and windy, etc.....you know what?! We have motorcycled for over 50 yrs...we are used to those little things...and love it !
We take delivery on our new TOY the first part of June...and can hardly wait!
Bought a new soft top for it...may get a hard top as we live in Kansas...

Thank YOU for your story... we are looking forward to participating in this Forum as we have done on our RV Forum!
