Wrangler Rookie from Smyrna Georgia

Hi All!!

I purchased my first Wrangler 4 months ago as new project to put my spare SBC 350 in and something for my wife and 1yo daughter to go cruise in. I got a steal of a deal on 1990 YJ for $1800. Its a 4 cylinder, 5 speed, with CJ hard top and doors.

It had numerous issues with it that I quickly fixed. Failed intake/exhaust gasket fix by PO cause an exhaust manifold leak that burnt out the valve cover gasket and cover resulting in oil pouring in the exhaust and intake eventually leading to failures throughout the entire exhaust system. The transfer case was busted and the vacuum differential engagement system had failed. The cooling system has issues and all the seats were busted or rotted out. No big deal to fix all those issues.

I have done the Cavalier seat upgrade by fab/welding up my own brackets. I have replaced the entire exhaust system from manifold to the tip in the back. Replaced the NP231 with a junk yard pull out. Complete overhaul and rebuild of the throttle body and intake. Replaced all sensors and ignition/timing components. clean out the radiator and replaced thermostat and hoses. ...to name a few of the fixes/upgrades.

I am currently building up a 2.5" spring lift kit to go in over the x-mas break. Rebuilding the original NP231 transfer case with SYE. And rebuilding a 350 SBC engine for a low end/off-road beast with 350hp/trq. The engine swap will happen when I can get my hands on an AX-15.

Even though I am new to Wranglers, I have been building chevy's for over 20 years now. My other toy is a 480 hp 1969 Chevy C-10 p/u with a 6 speed T-56 trans, air bag suspension, 4 wheel discs, and an upgraded leather interior. I love building motors, transmissions, suspensions, and doing any type of custom fab work.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else is doing and sharing the progress I make with my project YJ
