Wink you can hear it comin from a mile away...

hey yall! so this is the question..i used to have a '79 cj7 with a v8 and a 305. it was definitely my favorite jeep ever, but my cousin flipped and totaled it completely. now i have a '05 jeep wrangler sport and what im aiming to do it get as close as possible to the amazing loud sound as the v8 had.
i now have a flowmaster 40 muffler that we just installed in it and im looking into headers but if anyone has any suggestions as to what i should do specifically to accomplish this i would greatly appreciate it! i want people to turn heads when they hear me crank up or when i pull up anywhere i go!!

welcome to WF.

Can only recommend a cold air intake, maybe throttle body, I personally have magnaflow and it has a great deep sound. as for the headers most TJ owners will say that the aftermarket ones arent any better than the factory. and in some cases factory is even better than most aftermarlet. Hope someone else can chime in and add some insight. Tho I fear that most will probably try to talk you out of it lol. Best of luck!

chop it off at the headers and run straight pipes out from under the rocker panels in front of the rear tires hahah my managers gf has a 2.5L jeep that a bolt sheared off of the manifold and its LOUDDDDDDD so i could imagine a 4.0 would be pretty darned loud chopped at the headers...of coarse that would be illegal in most states.....all seriousness though that flowmaster is gonna drone a lot at high speeds but its prob one of the loudest you can get unless you put a glasspack, turbo, cherrybomb muffler on it...a high flow cat to go with your flowmast might help

we actually did that when my cats went out. tried to go cheap and cut em out. and i loved that i drove it for about 2 weeks like that but then when i had to drive back to school everyone told us that i could not drive it without the cats over 50 miles at a time or it would blow up the engine. so we ended up havin to buy cats and put them back on it. some ppl i talked to knew of some short cuts around buyin cats bc they are so expensive but none that would work for us. but right now my flowmaster sounds good just really not loud enough for me. i love the sound when i crank up and go at low rpms but when you speed up i cant hear it and that i dont like.
