Visiting Hawaii soon - how do I find off road clubs?

Hello,

I will be visiting Hawaii soon. Big Island. I am wanting to find an off road club or even a few off road friendly locals to take me wheeling. I don't care if it's easy or hard core.

Staying in Kona but happy to go anywhere on the island.

Any suggestions on how to find a club or like minded individuals in Hawaii?

Yes I tried Google but I got 90% YouTube videos.

Huge thanks to Big Island Jeep Club for leading us on a killer trail into a beautiful white beach.

I think this is called Hawaii Green Beach? It was an awesome adventure getting to it in the stock Jeep JKU.

Congrats!
Yes, it's called the Green Sand Beach or more properly, the Papakōlea beach and it is something to see in person....

I feel bad as I enjoyed the "drive" into and out of the beach more than the wife and kids enjoyed the actual beach.

So you drove all the way back to the beach?
From what we were told, it was illegal to drive from South Point.

Yup... I drove it all the way in a rental "stock JKU" Jeep.

We parked at the "top parking lot" and when we saw the junk pickups with bald tires taking people down to the beach at $20 per person... I thought to myself: "If that piece of junk can make it, so can my rental Jeep JK"

This is why I decided to drive my wife and kids in a rental Jeep...

$20 per person in the back of a pickup truck with bald tires???

I have only been here 1 time... but if I was asked for advice I would say:

Going in: Stay away from the water on your right hand side and follow the fence on your left hand side.

Going out: Stay away from the water on your left hand side and follow the fence on your right hand side.

Just trying to help.

IMO: In & Out of Green Beach on Hawaii is easier towards the fence and away from the water.
