Was told I need a new engine

My 95 4 cylinder made it from Colorado to Big Island Hawaii. From driving it out from Denver to Southern California then shipping from there to Hawaii did awesome....but into 3 months of it being on the islands it died. Took it to a mechanic, who has had it for 5 weeks now. just told me it needs a new engine. Costing 4500 dollars to put a new engine in...ouch. what should I do? I love my jeep. Have had it for seven years and put alot into it. I really don't want to have to get rid of it, but yet 4500 to fix it seems crazy. He says the compression is at 70. It has 160,000 miles. I've taken care of it and kept up with the maintenance. He says the cost includes getting a refurbished engine from the main land and getting it shipped out here then labor is 4500. what should I do?
