Gladiator Launch Edition: c'mon Jeep

Just curious, because my shipping date has come and passed...has anyone taken delivery of a Launch Edition yet? I'm ready to throw in the towel on the trailcam, speaker, and body colored flares, and take one from my dealer's lot that survived this past weekend. @JeepCares really dropped the ball on this.

When did they say it would be delivered?

Ship date was the 16th. I only just got out of paint and frame status. It's a joke at this point. Dealer can't even tell me what to expect. His emails and phone conversations have me feeling like he's trying to get me comfortable with mid June delivery. Toledo OH is literally an 8.5 hour drive. I'll go get it myself!
And this is a dealer and salesperson I've known for 10 yrs and have made numerous purchases with.

The problem I have is that the way Jeep is handling this process it's like the whole thing caught them off-guard. I mean they knew they were going to do this "Launch Edition" thing. They should've had them manufactured already in a fixed number in each of the four colors and just have them ready for delivery. If you wanted red but it was sold out already then offer another color or have the customer order what they want. They would've moved 4190 of them quickly and had them out there within a week as rolling advertisements. It's not a hard business...why complicate it?

4190 seems like a pretty specific number. Where'd you get that from?

That was pretty common knowledge. They were making 4,190 Launch Edition Gladiators. It's a play on the 419 area code for Toledo OH.

You only have a couple days between paint and ship, don't you? A one or two week delay on a launch vehicle isn't unheard of. Hell, I had an almost 8 week delay on my Ram Sport when they came out due to the Ryder strike.

I was also frustrated when I order my JL, as it sat at the plant for 13 days waiting to be shipped as a few other JL owners posted their builds were done after mine and delivered within a few days. Looking back, I realized I was being a little girl about it all as ordering a vehicle is never really on time, even more so for a new release of high demand. My suggestion is to take a breath, relax and know you're getting exactly what you wanted and in the grand scheme of things, its a few weeks of your life. Your dealer can't do anything and Jeep is trying their best, this is a gold mine for them.

"JS" status. It should be BS status. I've waited 7 weeks for a vehicle that, in theory, they solicited. They should've had product and parts in ample supply to meet the initial demand. So now it's completed and inspected and it sits in storage eight hours from my door. I've offered to go get it myself - no response. Jeep has managed to take the fun right out of this process.

The reason its sits is there isn't a shipment coming to your dealer, same thing happened to my JL. But, as I said, it'll be worth the wait. Or continue to let it eat away at you, ruining the fun of it. Im not trying to be a dick or be rude but the only thing stopping you from enjoying the process, is you. 7 weeks is not a long time my man.

I heard they did not sell out as fast as they are hyping. Sold to dealer yes, private sales were not as quick as claimed from what I heard and believe. The call center they used was not a concierge service. Customers ended getting solicitation calls from dealers close to their zip code (even though they had an order placed with their preferred dealer) a couple days after registration to buy a launch edition. USAA car buyer service used to be concierge and a good experience. It has turned into an experience like what I have heard the Launch day was. Really too bad. The experience that FCA has a chance to create was a huge missed opportunity IMO.

How was you Launch purchase process? Is you dealer the closest one to your zip code? Did you get other dealers calling you? How was the call center when you called in? Over all experience other than no Jeep and missing the delivery date?

No they didnít... there are many unsold.

Sending an email indicating that I may be interested doesnít equate to a sold order.

Is fca telling a fib? FCA claimed they sold out according to Jalopnik.

"Thatís according to Fiat Chrysler, which announced that no Launch Edition Gladiators were left on Friday. They all sold out during the one-day preorder period on the truck, which FCA held on April 4."

My experience on the ďsales processĒ was fine. Concierge suggested closest dealer to my zip code and I told them I had a preferred dealer that Iíve dealt with previously and they set me up with the dealership and my guy. It was really a smooth process until the past few weeks.

See post 48 and 52...

I told Jeep Wave they can have my reservation.

Not paying $67K for a truck.

that does not mean they did not sell out just that you gave your spot up to the next person or dealer. perhaps there were dealers that bought all they could and had to wait for people who passed on them. Not saying they did not sell them all but seems odd they would lie about it.

Or another thing that happened: Concierge calls to customer to verify they want it and a large number back out. I would bet there was at least a 10% fallout from those thinking: oooo I got it. To, oh my, dont think I can swing that $62k (or if they changed the price to $67k).

Of course a dealer will take the allocation if they donít have a firmed customer order..

I didnít have this problem when I ordered my 2013 10A...

Everything went pretty smooth.

x2

Since Jeep isnít backing the affiliates program, some dealers are taking advantage of the situation. Iíve been through this twice on limited editions and never had a problem before.. dealer honored Jeeps pricing plan and passed along the discount.

My dealer wouldnít even book the order because I wanted to leverage my corporate discount.

FCA typically only pulls factory discount programs on the SRT8, Hellcat, etc.

They must think they have something special since AEV was getting $100K for a Brute.

There are plenty of Gladiators on the lots around here. I bought a Rubicon from a dealer who had 10 Gladiators on the lot.

I made my deal at the end of the month ( May) and they must have been just short of their sales goals at the dealership to get their bonus. We haggled right up to the 31st. They fudged the pricing on the sales contract to make it look as if they sold it for MSRP but in fact they gave me $5000.00 more on my trade in rather than come down.

I ended up getting well over KBB as a trade. Sort of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
In the end everyone was happy and they made their bonus quota which is how the sales guys really make their money.

MSRP for my Rubicon was $57,930.00 pretty much fully loaded.
Here's my build sheet.
https://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/...JJTBG0LL105130

I added a bumper, winch and some lighting.
