JT Gladiator, what are you going to order?

So the launch edition is suppose to be sold out, anyone playing with build options, ordered from dealer, if ordered detail what options you picked?

I am playing around with builds and the Sport S seems like the way to go for price. I can't remember if this was a color listed but I am leaning towards Gator Sport S with tan cloth, 8 Speed with Max Tow, 4.10's, TracLok, Cold Weather, Aux Switches, Cargo Mgt, Dual Tops, Spray in Bedliner, Uconnect 7 inch with convenience pk, wireless spk, soft top storage bag, all weather slush mats hardtop headliner.

I am at $48,180, if the VA dealers can get me 3k off sticker thats a pretty nice rig for 45k to start a build, not trading recon!

I am thinking overland build and hope I can get by without sway bar disconnect and lockers from the factory and gain some payload capacity over a Rubie, thoughts?

This is the only one I have found recently that is being built up, though way above what I would do.

Here is a great looking overland concept in Gator, the color I am leaning towards. Way Out.

My order would be the JT Sport S + max tow package + some accessories to build an ultimate overlander rather than a Rubiconer. It looks to be the better buy.

I haven't decided in between Sport S (46k with my configuration), Overland (51k) or Rubicon (56k) yet. I plan to put 33inch tires on my Gladiator, so a Rubicon would make sense. But the Rubicon Decals, the Red Dash, and the hood vents are a little bit "over the top" in my opinion. I prefer the silver dash, on-level fenders and a plain & clean hood.

Colorwise I'm torn in between Gator and Gobi, both colors will look awesome combined with the tan cloth seats.

But before I am going to pull the trigger, I have to see a JT in person and I certainly have to test drive it in order to get a feeling If this is the right vehicle for me.

So I will have enough time to make up my mind, until the JT arrives in Europe late 2020...

Built a Sport s, auto, max tow, dual top group, spray in bed liner. 44k. I think this would suit me the best if I were to get a JT. Still expensive though.

Built a Rubi, same options. 50K. A bit rich for my blood I think.

Can't wait to see one at a dealer.

When they came out with the Recon, I was afraid they had jumped the shark, and this and the JL pretty much proved it. Forcing you to get that ugly hood and the cosmetic "upgrades" in order to get the top spec off-road features really is BS.

Weird I actually like the hood and rubicon letters . To each is own , everyone is different and thatís why they make so many different versions.

What exactly is ugly about the Recon, I know this thread is suppose to be about the Gladiator but I have to chime in since a few of you are crying about Recons, which have nothing to do with a JT...

Recon has 10a Bumpers and Hood, Recons have the best side steps from the factory of any Wrangler, TJ, JK or JL. Recons have the best front Axle of any Wrangler factory, recon's have the coolest seat belts of any Wrangler and finally Recons have the biggest lift of any factory JK, when I park next to even Willy's, its quite noticeable. Many Recon owners have stated that their JK's are the best riding handling JK's they have ever owned and I second this.

So other than the side hood graphics which I like on my silver and black Recon, you really have no factual basis for slamming the Recon, its the best JK from the factory ever and I am glad I snapped one up new before they were gone.

Whoa,....sorry buddy. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I didn't say it wasn't capable. I just think they're fugly. I hate the dark grille. I think the Willys are pretty ugly too. It's just personal preference. I don't think calling something fugly is slamming it, either. I've got a Hardrock.

IF I order one, I'll get Sport S with Max Towing and Cold Weather Package. Probably will add the spray-in bed liner too.

But, the problem is that I'd be at $45k with that build, and $45k puts me within a hair of a Ram 2500 with the Power Wagon package, or a nicely equipped F-150, or a nicely equipped Ram 1500 Rebel, etc. So I'm still not 100% decided.

Haven't decided between Gobi and Gator yet, but if I will order Gobi or another bright colour, I definetly skip the black factory bedliner and buy an aftermarket transparent bedliner, because the bright coloured bed looks awesome to me.

Nice idea on the clear bedliner I hadnt thought of that. Going to scope out dealers on Sunday here when they are closed for outside Glads, see if I can park next to one with my recon to see how high it sits.

Not a fan of black but a local dealer has a rubie with black/saddle, love the saddle interior around 61k sticker, ouch!

Yep, I like the tan cloth seats, saddle brown would be second choice, but I guess I will put on seat covers anyway

Ordered a Rubicon on April 27 and it is in BG status, which means it has passed edit but cannot be scheduled. Speculation is that a lack of steel winch-ready front bumpers is delaying sold orders with that option. Billet Silver with black hard top/fenders, cloth seats (don't like leather in Jeeps), bedliner, steel bumper, trail rails, aux. switches, premium audio, LED lighting, trailer tow, front camera. Stickered at $54,050. I paid less.

On the day I ordered, only leather was available in the Rubicon so I went with the "Dark Saddle"...which is disappointingly light. Cloth became available 3 days later so I had my order modified.

I'm not looking to ditch my 250 yet, but I am intrigued by the Gladiator. I would look to use it more as a truck and less how I use my 10A; E.g. hauling stuff vs. wheeling.

imho, the best 'bang for your buck' is a Sport build with the Heavy Duty Towing package, auto tanny, and 4:10 gears. For just under 40. you get the maximum towing/payload capacity.

If you overland (I call this camping) It would crawl half-way decent with 4:10s & the 32s. Decent enough for the types of obstacles you are likely to encounter.

To me this beats a 60k Rubicon with <6,000 towing capacity. I'll keep my 10A for wheeling.

This 'Jeep' is way too long for wheeilng, and will need a good bit of lift to help with the break-over issues you may run into.

I see this as a 'fun' way to tow a flat fender for fun runs or shows.

Orders on hold because of the steel bumper shortage have started to move. A friend and I each placed orders for virtually identical Rubicons with the steel bumper and they had been in BG status for about 2 weeks. They moved yesterday to D status and we received VINs. While you certainly can spend in excess of $60K for a loaded Rubicon, we each paid just over $50K for well-equipped vehicles.

Predictably, some will say the vehicle is too long for wheeling. Many of the same people said the same thing about the JKU when it came out...and even the TJ Unlimited when it was released...and the Scrambler when it came out. There were numerous Gladiators in Moab during the Jeep Safari and they performed extremely well. I have a friend who ran as a guide and tailgunner on the manufacturer runs. He was so impressed he ordered one.

Having chatted with (and watched cell phone video by) people who were on trails with the Jeep contingent running JTs at EJS, it should be mentioned how the trucks were dragging butt and scraping belly on a lot of obstacles where other Jeeps never touched.

Sure, throw some lift and big tires on them and they will be capable. But there does get to be a point where they get too long. And the JT exceeds that by a bit.

Of course a longer vehicle is going to rub on some trails where a shorter vehicle does not...like the JK vs the JKU. The Rubicon Gladiator has been reasonably well thought out in that regard...i.e. rear rock rails. Scramblers were called tail-draggers when they came out. But I still have the original rear bumper (in pristine condition) with the original and extremely rare plastic end caps on my Scrambler. I see far more people scraping and dragging on trails because of driving abilities than because of vehicle limitations. In my opinion, lack of off-road driving skill is the biggest reason Moab's trails have been ripped to shreds over the past 10-20 years...to the point where it does actually take heavily-modified vehicles (regardless of wheelbase) to traverse trails that could easily have been done in stock vehicles not that long ago. I wouldn't buy a Gladiator if I planned to use it strictly for wheeling. I wouldn't buy a JKU or JLU for that purpose either.

Looked at one at my Dealers tonight $54K price tag. Nice but not worth 54K to me, I hate that they put lights in the fenders and that is why I would not buy a new Wrangler either.

On May 17, I placed an order for:

Sport S

-Max Towing package (4.10s, Rubicon fenders, wide track axles, lots of payload, lots of towing, HD cooling, HD brakes, HD wheels, 240 amp alternator, class IV hitch, etc.)
-Black hardtop
-Aux switches
-Cargo Management package
-Cold weather package
-Convenience package
-Technology package

Came out to $46k sticker price. Residual values pegged at 80+% on 2 years, and 70% on 4 years so I leased at 4 years.

I really wish FCA still had the VOTS so I could check status myself.

Came out to $46k sticker price. Residual values pegged at 80+% on 2 years, and 70% on 4 years so I leased at 4 years.

I really wish FCA still had the VOTS so I could check status myself.
Nice build choices, what color did you go with?

It's too bad they did away with VOTS. It was a great system. You can still go to Jeep Chat and they will check your status for you. Or pester your dealer once a week or so.

Not a lot has been said about the Gladiator's wheels. All Gladiators have the heavier-duty wheels to handle the towing duties...which will probably also make them more durable off-road than standard JL wheels.

This was the ONE thing I struggled with. I love Sting-Gray, Gobi, Gator, White, Granite Crystal, and even the Hydro Blue. They all look so good. I had no idea what to go with. So in the end, I stuck with Firecracker Red which is what I've got on my current JLU. It's a great color that pops with a lot of orange hue in it during bright sunlight, and I haven't gotten tired of it in the last 14 months so I figured it was a safe color.

Also, it helped my decision that Firecracker is available for order now, and lots of the other colors are not.

Looked at a red Ruby and a white sport at a local dealer on Saturday. Them things are ugly, and pricy. Iíll keep my Ford. Twice the truck for the money!
