New Gladiator Overland

I bought one of these on June 7th, and absolutely love the ride. It doesn't ride like my previous 2012 Jeep Wranger Rubicon (that I traded in). Has anyone else purchased one? I'm curious what other new owners think. Only thing I haven't figured out is a small package of about a dozen rubber tubes with small brass fittings I found in the glove compartment. Anyone know what they're for? I may have to contact the dealership.

Pictures of the rubber tubes would go a long way towards an answer. And of course some pics of the Gladiator.

They sound like riv nuts of some sort. Probably meant to seal out water somewhere?

What markings were on the package? Something on it may be a part number. Post a pic.

They are shrink tubes and connectors for wiring the AUX switches I believe.

Thanks uplandgunner, I think you're right. I'll get a picture of them later today.

Congrats and good luck with that beauty! Love the color (I’ve got a Firecracker Red LE)

Thanks p90 Ed. You are correct. The dealer chose the Rubicon wheels for this Overland. It makes it more 4x4 friendly.

I've attached pictures of the unexplained bag in my glove compartment.

And yes those are for the AUX switches, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Two small problems I've found so far:

- Detachable Bluetooth speaker won't pair with anything....it does work when attached to the Jeep, as it is part of the Alpine sound system. Documentation is negligible for it, but I found a document on Alpine's website. Google the model number on the bottom of the speaker to find it.

- USB 2 inside the console stopped working with the sound system....Apple Car Play died on me today, but still works with USB 1 (on the dashboard).

I'm taking it back to the dealer on on 6/14 for them to take a look.

So outside of those minor fix it details, how do you like it? Is this your first Jeep of any kind? Are you planning on modifying it in any way, if so what?

The dealer and I could not reproduce USB2 problem, and they have ordered me a new detachable blue tooth speaker since they can't fix it. The dealer is taking very good care of me.

I'm really enjoying the ride and the things I didn't have in the 2012 Wrangler Unlimited I traded in. Considering the damage I did to the back bumper on the Wrangler, my new backing camera is god-send. I do plan on taking the entire top off next weekend. I installed a wench in my garage to take the top off my Wrangler, but don't think I'll need it for the Gladiator. Quadratec is selling a cart to store the back part of the hard top that I may get later.

As far as modifying it, I've already ordered the trail rails for the bed. My Gladiator came with pre-drilled holes in the bed for them, but the dealer didn't add the package that provides the rails. These are the rails inside the truck bed on the sides and front. They come with several sliding "cleats" from which you can tie stuff down. They run around $350 and start shipping some time next week. Most of the Gladiator add-ons I've looked at haven't started shipping yet.

Maybe later I'll get the LED lights you can put just inside the outside rear view mirrors. There is a MOPAR version of them from what I've seen. My Great Pyrenees seem to think there's zombies on our property and the extra LED's would come in handy in finding them.

We had a charity Jeep run down here on the 1st. The dealer had one Gladiator on the lot, so they sent it to the run (with magnetic signs on it of course) with two salesmen. A naked (doorless, topless) Gladiator is unique. Got a lot of attention (which is what they were after). When they arrived in the assembly area (131 Jeeps) the word went around quickly.

The dealer was also a major financial sponsor of the run.

Yes I agree that the ride quality is far better than on the Wrangler. I chalk it up to the added length.
