Experience questions with synthetic winch rope

Can anyone tell me the differences between some synthetic ropes? Some are around $400 and others around $100. I know the usual, you get what you pay for and I'm not looking for arguments between brands. I'd just like to know what the actual differences are in the ropes, such as materials, are there only a few manufacturers with different brand names, etc?

2016 JKU Willy's Wheeler Granite Crystal Metallic, Bestop Trektop NX Glide, Teraflex 2.5" suspension lift, Firestik CB Antenna, Versamount2 with Proclip phone holder, Rubicon wheels (rotated from my wife's Jeep onto mine, Shhhh don't tell her) 33" Duratracs, Apollointech Pro, Lux Micro Rock Lights, Bartact seat covers, Cube lights, Barricade Trail Force HD Front Bumper, Rhino D-rings, Smittybilt XRC Winch, Bushwacker Flat Fenders and an empty bank account

Experience questions with synthetic winch rope

Material to look for is Plasma, SK75, or SK78. There are some differences among suppliers as to the coatings. Top of the line are suppliers like ASR Offroad. With something as important as winch line I would not want to cheap out.
Luckymac likes this.
2014 JKU Willys 6-spd, RK X-Factor 3.5", Fox Resis, KM3 37s, PR60s, Eaton e-lockers, 5.13, Atlas II 3.8, and another $10K in miscellaneous parts.

Its not as simple as American versus Chinese. Dyneema is made by a Dutch company. It is patented and they don't license that patent to anyone. If you are paying less than about $2.50 a foot for rope you aren't getting real Dyneema. You are getting a Chinese knockoff of questionable manufacture. The same is true of Plasma rope. It is made from Spectra fiber from Dupont I believe. It is patented and made by one company. It can be had for a blunder $2 a foot but not by much. If it's cheaper than that, again it is Chinese knockoff of questionable quality.

If you are ok with chinese made winch rope go for it.
