Quick way to get your truck keyed. I would do it if I had a dash cam or something.

So you go around parking your Jeep really close to other vehicles? You know being a dick will result in damage to your Jeep. What is your point? How old are you?

Love it. I also make a point of taking the 1/2 spot left by some douche who tries to block people from parking near him.

Packer: The other drivers here have clearly parked well over the line in a busy parking garage to try to "claim" two spots; that's the dick move.

Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. This is not what I as a Jeeper want to be known for. This thread should be closed. This is my opinion, I'm not going to debate it or reply to any comments. Find a new hobby...

For my vehicles that are not a Jeep, I usually park in the outer Egypt lot and walk the half mile to where I need to be. This is not because I need the exercise but because a lot of people, for whatever reason, feel like my $40k plus purchase is something they can ram their car door into. If I have no other choice when parking, then yes I'll go out of my way to make it inconvenient for other people to easily find a way to damage what I work hard to purchase and maintain. Frankly, if someone crowded my door like this I'd likely have them towed or provided a compelling physical reason never to do it again if they beat the tow truck back to their car.

I'm not for or against this but I do find it crazy how much people really could care less for their cars. Most use and abuse them to get from point A to point B. Any given day around Chicago you see countless people just park and fling there doors open in parking lots. Not a care in the world for what they may hit with them. Now I do agree that you should park your expensive car or any automobile you care about far out in the lot and walk. However, I certainly do NOT agree with the taking up two spaces approach...that is a dick move for sure.

I try to make it less obvious, though, so as not to get keyed: I will park close enough to make it difficult for them to get in, but not "too" close to look like I simply squeezed into what's left of the parking stall.

I used to be paranoid of getting my doors dinged by careless idiots when I parked my Challenger 392, but I would NOT take two primo spots; I would park all the way far from the main door, where no one wants to park; problem solved.

I concur with allot of the sentiment in these posts. And I normally am not one to seek out "revenge".

That being said it might be worth mentioning that I live in Boston and there is a daily wait of 1+ hours for this lot and no public parking options. I pay ALLOT monthly for the use of this garage.

These people's lack of respect for others just pushes me over an edge sometimes.

I'm normally the one who parks on the other side of a parking lot to avoid door dings. So don't take this as a lack of caring about my vehicle. More like a calculated risk that they wouldn't do anything in front of security cameras, and I did take pictures of of their license plates.

You could always winch them back into a single spot
Kidding, but maybe report them to the parking garage and have them towed. Especially if it is that $$ for parking in there.

1.) An eye for an eye would have to leave at least ONE person OK, as the 2nd to last person wouldn't be able to see to poke the last one in the eye... Strive to be the last person!

2.) Ignoring/enabling assholish behavior encourages the offender to continue in their ways. Even if only 10% of them have the wherewithal to realize that they were in the wrong when called out, that's 10% fewer assholes around than if everyone just acquiesces to their behavior.

I hate it as well when people think that since they spent more money on their vehicle they deserve special treatment (like taking two or more spots or parking in a handicap spot) over someone who spent less. On the plus side with a jeep, dings and scratches are just an excuse for some body armor! And good luck having someone ding your door if you have some good rock sliders and a nice lift! Boy they will wish they were more careful when they have an 2" steel tube imprint in their door!

Well I absolutely hate when people take up 2 spots. That being said i would be afraid to park that close to someone, and leave my vehicle even though they deserved it.
Last summer there was someone who i saw pull in to a spot and take up 2 spots. The spot on the drivers side of there vehicle was open but they were over the line maybe a tire width.Immediately the horns came out and i squeezed my vehicle maybe 6 inches from there car(didnt need to park at all),they were still in it.I started talking on my phone,(well pretending to).The person was getting pissed off, beeping at me to get my attention. It went on for a few minutes until finally they backed out, took them forever. When they got straightened out i backed out & went on my way.Man were there hands going a mile a minute.

I was amazed (if that's the best word) that the driver of the car could even get out after parking like that. The driver of the car did manage to put a few dings on my XJ while trying.

Not something I would do. I like my Jeep too much.

I stopped parking in the uncovered lot near my work because for some reason the Jeep attracted smaller cars to park right up next to the driver's side door, like I had some other secret way of getting in my Jeep.

Now I park in a 6 level structure and far away from the other cars so I have room. I make sure to keep it in its allotted space with enough room so I can get back in. I try to take the corner spots near the stairs and use the non parking area to make sure there's room for the other asterisks who seem to want to park as close as possible in their compact cars...I still don't get what that is about...If your car is small (I'm looking at you Prius), you can use all the empty COMPACT spaces, why are you trying to park under my Jeep?

what? Worried about getting keyed unless you have a dash cam? Doesn't your cell phone have a camera? Take pic that has the license plate. AND think about it...the white car is a PORSHE. The owner of the car likely has money and the owner knows other people knows he has money. He may be dumb when it comes to parking, but he's certainly smart enough to not put his money at risk with any legal costs associated with keying a jeep. Lol.

Several truisms in life. one is if you push back firmly in word or action, the vast majority of the populace will back down and it often only takes one event to change their conduct, at least toward you. They may continue their bullying/douche-baggery but they will no longer to you and, after all, that's what's most important. With the added element of anonymity of not knowing who parked close to them when they take two spaces, they'll likely clean up their act in parking lots going forward because they don't know who might do it again to them in the future. This doesn't have to be a negative thing. Think of it as your contribution to re-training certain people among us become better citizens. They'll thank you for it later.

So I guess I didn't have enough Karma points today because I came out after work to find this fun situation... With just a few inches of room to open the door. I had the parking attendant help me out or it would not have been a good situation if waited for the owner to get back. Guess who will be backing in from now on. I was in the last space too.

I'd be worried to park my Jeep next to somebody like that. No telling what they might do. However, I do own a vinyl cutter and have been known to make dick stickers. This version is two inches tall and made up of about 40 or so tiny 1/5" dicks. I have since added some lettering to it that says "DON'T PARK LIKE A" and then has the dick made of dicks below it. It's great. Can be applied to the windshield in seconds and doesn't do any damage. It's annoying to remove all of those little dicks too.

i'd be really worried about putting stickers on someone else's car:

So I looked up this:

Re: Is it Legal to Put Stickers on Illegally Parked Cars
yes you would be breaking several laws and committing a tort or two on top of that. and you might get the crap beat out of you to boot.

An alternative is to put them on note cards and slide them on the washer.
