The only way to avoid this terrible plague, you need to anoint your Jeep with synthetic oil - preferably 0w30... but you can also use 5w30 and still avoid the dreaded DW.

The AOD is nothing you want to mess with..

.
Before anointing it, you have to change every stock bolt in the entire Jeep. If you don't, chances are the entire thing will simply fall apart in the driveway.

Lights went out on my cupholders! WTH am I going to do! HELP!

More than 2 months and almost 2,000 blissful miles on my new Jeep. Love this thing! It surprisingly makes the 2 mile roundtrip drive from work and back everyday without a single problem Well, I have had to replace 5 windshields in the past 2 months, but that is a small price to pay to own a new Jeep.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Not the cup holder lights!!! 😃

Enjoying every drive in mine, as well. Even if it's been downright frigid here.

Mods, can you please look at this thread? It's supposed to just be people reporting that nothing has happened to their jeep. I'm afraid the significant number of problems that are being reported will make it look like jeeps are more reliable than they are based on the number of posts in this thread.

Nothing but pure joy and routine maintenance for you years with my 07 jk...... Until I noticed a major water leak today...

I was forced to put doors and windows on it because rain was coming INSIDE THE VEHICLE!!!

I got in my Jeep this morning and thought omg the seat shrank from the snow and rain getting inside it! And what is this annoying wobble thing. Turns out its just the 10 pounds I packed on over the holidays and my gut wobbling around...

But, true story - I got this stick thingy in the middle of the floor - it moves around. Is it supposed to? I think it's broke.....someone told me it's a "gear shift" and it's supposed to move? I have 3.73 gears - didn't pay to be able to shift them around! HELP! I think the damn thing's broken!

I see oil spots under the 3.8, and it's top and flares appear faded compared to the 3.6.

There, feel better now?

There's a huge difference between my 09 soft top and the 14 premium top. I've been threatening to switch them.

Not to derail this thread, but did you consider buying a different color Jeep daggo66?

They are very different colors, but it certain light they look very close. The 14, in front, is copperhead and the 09 is red rock.

That's why I sold my soft top... let the sucker that bought it deal with all of those problems. Of course, I've been expecting the hardtop to leak for the past 43,000 miles. I may have to sell it too.

I was too late. I knew I shouldn't have posted on this thread. Guess what noise I can hear behind the dash. And now I am hearing a "tick". Not sure if the tick is real or in my head. Lol Of course ever since I joined WF (july 2012) I think I hear the "tick". And I'm sure I am not the only one.

That "tick, tick, tick" you are hearing is the "Doom Clock" always counting down the weeks, days, or hours left in your Jeep's life. Hope you have a nice plot chosen next to the flag pole and the big oak tree.

That's cool. They looked practically the same in that picture. I have seen both colors and agree that they are very different colors. Keep on jeeping.

Put another 35 to 40 miles on my jeep today. Still waiting to hear all that water sloshing around in the dash.

A little thread necromancy here.

I got in my Jeep, it started right up and drove to work with no problems.

It was a little breezy with the top and doors off but I think that's something I can live with.

On my bike ride today I saw two bugs doing something just like this. Is this kind of adult themed material allowed on this forum?

By the way, my Jeep had been in the driveway all day. It has yet to fall apart and no meteors in sight. I haven't tried to start it yet today but I assume it will with no problems. Why would I expect anything else?

Nothing wrong with remembering and honoring those things that have past.

I got stuck doing 60 MPH in the slow lane in between a semi on my left, a BMW tailgating me (who had drawn some my attention away from the truck on my right) and a delivery truck from hell getting on the freeway on my right. I romped on the gas pedal and nothing bad happened today. On the contrary, my 3.6 responded immediately revving up to ~4500 RPM and my JK speed past both trucks, while the Bimmer slammed on his brakes.

Based on my experience with my old 3.8 nothing quite good enough would have happened. At the very least the Bimmer would have an imprint of my spare.

Almost 6 months and not a stinking problem... well, not counting the lighter wallet
