Superchips Flashpaq etc

Tried searching. Are these things useful or snake oil?

Got a Superchips Flashcal just last Friday and was able to adjust the tire size to correct speedometer which corrected the shifting. Turned off TPMS light, adjusted a few other minor things. Took all of 10 minutes. Once I regear I can correct for that as well. Can Adjust the idle so that it isles higher when using the winch or other accessories.

I hear the Flashpaq has some preprogrammed option to set for higher octane or for simply off-road vs street performance. Figured I’d start with the flashcal since I can just pay and download the upgrade to Flashpaq if ever desired.

It does what it is marketed to do and is very easy to use.

Are these really necessary for a manual? Also, we have 2 JK’s. easy to marry/divorce it from one to the other? Thinking with teo jeeps it may be worth it, but not sure.

It can only program 1 jeep at a time. You have to return the 1st to stock to be able to use it on the other, so you really need 2.

If you have changed tire size and/or gearing, it's useful. IMO, the flashpak tunes are marginal improvements.

The one Flashpaq tune that I have found extremely useful is the crawl tune. When off road, I find that bouncing causes poor throttle control for me mainly due to the fly by wire throttle pedal. Using the crawl tune desensitized that and I have much better throttle control, which makes me better off road.

If you change tire size or gear ratio, it's necessary. It also is a OBDII reader, something that can be handy.
