I'll be putting my XRC8 on in a few days, and I know that it's not waterproof. That being said, I spend a lot to time driving on the beach through saltwater and sand, and the occasional fresh water hole. Is there something I should do to ensure that I don't short out the electronics--like maybe installing a current kill-switch to the negative terminal when I'm driving through water? Or is there a seal kit I can buy to put on the winch housing to make it waterproof? Maybe there's a super-simple answer that I'm not thinking of. Thanks for the help.
I have never heard of anything myself but my 4wd hardware store sold me on their extended off roaders warranty 35$ for 5 yrs after the 3 yrs from smittybilt no questions asked bring it in get a new one In The box they basically said if u crash the front of ur jeep into a tree bring the pieces of the wench back no questions asked
Hmm...I wonder how easily it is to get Smittybilt to honor their warranty if a person drowns a winch. I'm not looking to find out, but...I'll look into an extended warranty. Thanks.
