I’m a moderator and administrator on a couple of other sites and have not seen this anywhere but here. I have cleared cache as well as cookies. Using an IOS12 updated iPad and Safari browser...

I’m getting one as well on mobile (Apple - Safari). It’s always the same about winning a gift card.

I get something similar on my Moto phone.

It only happens when I am at this one restaurant. Service is slow, so unenviably, I open up phone's browser, and check the local news website. I get a pop up like the one you show.

I don't think the restaurant has anything to do with it (I am not using their WiFi), and when I check the local news website anywhere else, it doesn't happen. I think it is a location based ad (but I believe I have this disabled in Google options !! ).

Thanks for letting us know. If you see more, copy/paste the URL and provide a screenshot for all instances you see and we'll get them blocked.

I’ve been getting the stupid Amazon gift card pop up for the last two days. Locks everything right up. Very annoying.

A paid membership and Ghostery with Firefox keeps any annoying pop-ups from showing up on my end.

I don't get them, but I run uBlock Origin and a Pi-Hole. FWIW those types of ads that mimic actual real life critical warnings in iOS/Windows are more than just annoying and deceiving...they're often malicious, run heavy code that effectively locks you from using your browser, or even worse.

It's sad what ad-networks have done, letting so many bad actors in. And I get the necessity of ad revenue for sites like WF. But on the flip side, ads/popups/annoyances like this are way outside the scope of acceptable (for WF, the ad network, or anyone to show users) and should be stopped.

Since installing Pi-Hole software (free) on a Raspberry Pi ($67 computer from amazon the size of my palm), I see detailed analytics on what's blocked (ads). They're 28% of my network traffic! Just refreshing this site in the last few seconds, here's all the domains that my Pi-Hole blocked:

Time Domain
2018-10-04 01:10:05 ad.crwdcntrl.net
2018-10-04*01:10:05 d1r55yzuc1b1bw.cloudfront.net
2018-10-04*01:10:05 p.cpx.to

2018-10-04*01:10:05 static.verticalscope.com
2018-10-04*01:10:05 tags.crwdcntrl.net
2018-10-04*01:10:05 api.viglink.com
2018-10-04*01:10:01 ad.crwdcntrl.net
2018-10-04*01:10:01 d1r55yzuc1b1bw.cloudfront.net
2018-10-04*01:10:01 p.cpx.to
2018-10-04*01:10:01 5362399.fls.doubleclick.net
2018-10-04*01:10:01 4514783.fls.doubleclick.net
2018-10-04*01:10:01 static.verticalscope.com
2018-10-04*01:10:01 tags.crwdcntrl.net
2018-10-04*01:10:01 api.viglink.com

Edit: This isn't meant as a dig against WF. If anything, it's a good reason for a paid (ad-free) membership here. And a friendly warning about ads...and how pervasive they are...everywhere. Of everything on my network, WF's ads aren't even a blip on the list of most frustrating/malicious/bad ads.

Thanks guys...
It’s actually more than just Pop-up ads. These hijack the browser session, flush the current browser cache and redirects the session to their site.
You will not even find the wranglerforum.com session in the browser session history!
All you can do is close the session and start over again.

seems to only be happening with iphone users.

keep on reporting these pop-up ads with their links. we'll get them removed. I'm not sure why the targeted audience is apple users though.

It hits IPads as well. I’ve had it a dozen times since I joined but only on my tablet, never on my Mac. And it puts itself in the history a bunch of times so the back button appears to not work. ( Hold down on the back button so you get the list and you can then back out of it.)

I just got one of these:

https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove...d-today-popup/

I had been running with my adblocker turned off on this site, to support the site by allowing ad revenue generation. But it just got turned back on and will be staying that way.

I have all the settings on my Safari that you show here. I was mistaken about the issue being pop-ups. Instead I believe it is a browser session hijack. I will say that it has not happened to me now in about a week, so hopefully the issue is resolved.
Thank you Lee..

Have the same problem with Safari on my iPhone. Chrome seems to be somewhat more impervious to it (but not 100%)

Thanks for the feedback,

If this keeps happening, grab us the full URL and a screenshot indicating what browser and device you're on.

We'll send it up for blocking.

I had this same problem. It kept happening every few minutes, very frustrating. I donated to the site and haven't had an issue since.

Driving me absolutely insane. Cannot even browse with out every other thread redirecting me to this...

It happens only on mobile, on Safari (iOS 12) and only this site.

Have about 15 more links, but, it appears to be the same actual domain involved in all of today’s.
