Photobucket alternative?

Hopefully a fair question, PB went from frustrating (but Free w/Ads) to $400 a year for the level that allows pics etc. if I'm reading them correctly.

Anyway, I like pics but not that much. What does everybody use and like other than PB?

( just noticed the sticky regarding PB. Again, hope it's permissible to ask what others are using)

Howdy Bill-
Is that same or different PB? I'm tech savvy to the point I need to be which usually means I can get things boogered up just enough that one of my Kids gets to fix it.
The PB I have been using for several years is FUBAR.

Does this work like PB where basically:
- Moron (me) snaps pic.
- Hits a button and the menu pops up on the phone and "b00m" appears on the forum.
Couldn't find it in the play store ( i hate saying that)

I use Flickr, if you have auto-save feature on it will automatically save any and pictures you take. If you delete your pictures off phone they're still saved on Flickr. You can resave them back to your phone or forward them too. I never liked PB, was just a PITA to use.

Try Google Photos. It is extremely easy to use. I put the app on my iPhone and now, everytime I take a picture, it is automatically backed up. I love this because if I am on vacation and taking a lot of pictures with my phone, I can delete some pictures to free up memory and they are already backed up. There is a desktop pc app too that lets you backup pictures. Oh, and it is free.

Tried it. Am I doing something wrong? Shows as a link vs just the Pic....

It's fine if that's how it works, was just used to the pic actually showing rather than a link.

(#Photobucket Sucks) I don't tweet, just had to say that.

I just did a test post and it works fine for me. While in Google Photos, click on a picture and enlarge it. Then, right click on it and select "Copy Image Address" then you just paste the link when using the image insert button on the forum.

I use SmugMug for my image hosting. I'm an amateur photographer, so the $60 year is of value.

Here's one from my Google Photos account:

Funny, before I saw this thread I noticed my PB is all screwed up.
So if switching to say,Google photos is there a way to automatically swap photos over from PB to another host?

For moving your photos to Google Photos or any other service... You might be able to download them to your computer and then upload them to the new service.

On here, you would have to edit every post with a photo link. Unless you're in the few hours of the original post, then no. It's just a big mess. Almost all the posts with photobucket links are broken.

i use ImgBB and the only thing i have found is that i need to resize the image before posting it here, or it will flip it sideways.

i wonder if Google Photos is easier and i would not need to resize.

I'm not up to speed on cpu's, but why do people even need photo hosting? i regularly post pics that i have on my laptop. Never had one issue. Is it the volume of photos people have? seems odd to me...

Some forums do not have a feature to u/l pics to a message. You have to host them online somewhere to be able to post the pic in a message.

When I was using Photobucket I had 10 or so different folders arranged by theme and hundreds of pics. Whenever I wanted to include a pic in a message it was easy to go to PB and find it and post the [IMG] link to it.

You only have a certain amount of space on the forum to upload photos. So I use a third party.

You have a little over 4GB of space allocated to attachments on the site. As long as you aren't uploading truly massive image files, it should be plenty to last a good while.
