What means "Reputation"?

On each post there is an icon that when you hold your pointer over it asks "add to this posters reputation".
What does this mean?

Thanks & Good Luck, L.M.

I do believe it is where you can say if the poster is helpful or a butt head.

I thank jeepers29 for his thoughts on this matter.

I was hoping that a moderator would chime in with a definitive answer.

TIA, Good Luck, L.M.

He's pretty much on the money. Reputation is exactly what it sounds like, your rep on the site. It's kind of like "Likes", but a little different. More personal and allows you to add a note for the user to see.

Does it have any effect on site interaction? As in, if I have really high reputation do I get extra features or something?

No, having a higher reputation doesn't give you extra features - it's just a way of telling others where you stand on the site.

It more or less lets people know if you have a reputation you might be able to put a little more trust in. Kind of like on Ebay where it shows the sellers positive feedback.

How do you let them know they are a butt head (short of a PM) without adding to their rep? I honestly want to know?

And how/where do we see someone's reputation? I was just looking and don't see it.

Currently there is no butthead or annoying button. However if theres a post you think is breaking any rules theres the report button. Something other than having a valid reason to report a post may just be something that rubs someone you wrong way.
And as far as seeing someones reputation, honestly I have to ck on that. I see when I add to a rep it asks for a reason, and I can see my rep count but Im not sure how to see someones.Ill ask,or if another mod or admin wants to jump in feel free.

LOL. I wouldn't go reporting a post because it rubbed me the wrong way. I know about reporting posts, just happened accross this thread when it showed up in recent threads and got me wondering about rep. Of course I know there's not butthead reporting either, that was tongue in cheek.

How do you see your own rep count? Doubt I have any, as I don't recall ever getting notified I was "repped" and a reason. But you got me wondering that too.

Hi,

If you hover over the little green icon under your avatar, clicking on that icon displays your reputation points, at least it does when viewing in the WranglerForum v2.0 skin.
